Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
I do, I think the physics and gameplay will be much improved, just look at the strides they've made with NHL 11 and NBA Elite as far as physics. And as everyone here probably knows their sales dropped I think it was like 20% from Madden 10, so I bet they're also starting to take the community (like the people on YouTube, TheSimStandard guys) seriously, add Backbreaker's competition and I think they'll really step things up a notch this year. Do you also get this feeling or do you think they'll add one or two new features and call it a day?Favorite teams: Philadelphia Eagles, Boston Red Sox, North Carolina Tar Heels

I feel better than year's past, because Adembroski's now on the team.He can be our eyes and speak for us moreso than before.
The bottomline is how far the suits at EA will allow the team to go with the game.
I don't know about being really good, but hopefully more improvements in franchise and gameplay will be made..Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
First, NBA Elite got cancelled; that pushes real-time physics, and the chances Madden gets it, a few years back. NHL was greatly improved, so I hear, because I've never played it, but Tiburon doesn't develop NHL; FIFA improved, but FIFA isn't developed by EA Tiburon. If I'm not mistaken, both of those titles are developed by EA Canada. If Madden was developed by EA Canada, maybe I'd share your optimism.
The last six iterations of Madden have been disappointments regardless of all the hype and developer interaction. We're still clamoring for the same things that we've been clamoring for over the last six years. It this point I have no faith in Madden.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
Look at the stides of NBA Elite?? Physics broke that game to the point it didn't release. I don't see them adding physics because Madden 11 sold 5.5 million without it and there is no need for the devs to get creative and risking breaking Madden.I do, I think the physics and gameplay will be much improved, just look at the strides they've made with NHL 11 and NBA Elite as far as physics. And as everyone here probably knows their sales dropped I think it was like 20% from Madden 10, so I bet they're also starting to take the community (like the people on YouTube, TheSimStandard guys) seriously, add Backbreaker's competition and I think they'll really step things up a notch this year. Backbreaker sold 200,000 copies, it's not competition and the Madden devs have openly mocked the youtube crowd as nothing but attention seeking nitpickers. I do not believe they take their suggestions seriously, if they even look at them at all.
I get the feeling offline franchise gamers will see a return of many of the features PS2 Madden has had in the past and thats about. Online franchise guys will find that mode bare and untouched and be unable to use sliders vs their cpu games like their offline counterparts. Play now guys will find the same game with surprise onside kicks and maybe 1-2 other minor features.
So to answer your question, I think if your an offline gamer or enjoy madden 11 then yes, otherwise no.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
I think it depends on your current opinion of the Madden franchise. Personally, I've played M10 & M11 quite a bit. I have my issues no doubt, but I do have an enjoyable football game on my hands. So for me, the arrow is pointing up and given what we already know, I do think Madden will be pretty good this year.
I still hesitate to say presentation will blow me away, but we'll see soon enough.
Now if I sat on the opposite side of the fence and didn't like M10-M11, I don't know if I'd already be able to say Madden will be really good. Those that have a dislike for Madden seem to be deep-rooted in their discontent. A year's worth of improvements won't undo those feelings.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
Even if the devs mocked the youtubers (didn't hear it myself), I think some issues have gotten their attention. I think Apex/GideonPrime birthed the whole consecutive tackling thing. While it may have been easy to dismiss initially, it's been brought up enough here and other forums I imagine that Tiburon will attempt to address it.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
Nope. I don't get sucked into the hype anymore. I had bought every Madden since it first came out on the Sega Genesis, but I didn't buy it last year. I've been extremely disappointed with the series on the next generation systems.
I hope like hell that I am wrong, but history tells me that I'm not.Comment

I don't know if deep rooted is the right phrase, it's just myself and a lot of people like me have seen almost every area of Madden done better by NBA 2k, the Show, 2k football, and often times even ps2 Madden.I think it depends on your current opinion of the Madden franchise. After seeing the company's 7th attempt at football, you start to lose faith a little bit.
Apex, aks "the truth chaser" is the one who gets mocked the most. He really doesn't even do the videos or play the games anymore because I don't think he even believes they take him seriously anymore.Even if the devs mocked the youtubers (didn't hear it myself), I think some issues have gotten their attention. I've never heard a dev mention the phrase or that they were addressing tackling since pro-tak was attempted.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
I thought Madden 11 was already really good. Far from perfect but with some basic house rules the offline franchise is good. And I love my online franchise. End of March and we're still going strong.
Most of things people complain about in human vs human games go away when you put it on All-Madden. EA's major flaw was not letting people play ranked All-Madden games.Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
Agreed... Thinking of Backbreaker as being Madden competition is like saying a 5th grader can truck Ray Lewis. There's NO COMPETITON for Madden even when there are other football games.
Think of it this way... How many people are still playing Backbreaker?
It's simple. Backbreaker is a football game. Madden is a phenomenon.
I feel that the YouTube crowd with the mission to point out all the idiosyncrasies would have better spent that time learning how to play the game. It takes just as much time and effort to point out flaws as it does to account for them - maybe even moreso. I personally find their fruitless efforts to be disappointing display of the worst parts of human nature.
I guess it's easier to whine than work.

I asked if they were going to address it, and Ian said they would look into it.
Plus, I thought they were setting up a podcast with YT video folks?Comment

Re: Anyone have a weird feeling Madden will be really good this year?
Right, but that wasn't a slight at you champ. I'm not certain how you feel about all aspects of the game, but I know one thing you're a stickler on is the PS2 pre-play options. If they were to bring those back, I can't say that you would completely be a happy camper, but maybe it's enough for you at least alter your opinion a bit.
However, there are a handful of people here who'll say things like, "The gameplay hasn't improved in six years." If someone legitimately feels that way, then I don't think M12 will change that opinion. The game can't radically change in just a year. There will be features and enhancements added without a doubt. But if a gamer despises the very foundation that Madden is built on, then I just don't see M12 making a difference to that gamer.
That's what I mean when I say deep rooted. The enhancments to where M11 left off are not going to be enough for some gamers to find any semblance of satisfaction with Madden.
I'm certain I've heard it talked about in one of the podcasts. Not at great length, but they acknowledged that they were aware of it and would try to address it.Apex, aks "the truth chaser" is the one who gets mocked the most. Plus NCAA was so good last year, I don't think Madden can stand to be second to them forever.Comment

Do you say these things just to piss people off? LOL, I initially thought it was quite refreshing to have someone on OS who was very vocal about how satisfied they were with Madden.Agreed... At the same time, you can't go putting people down just b/c their opinion differs. NO COMPETITION? Madden is a phenomenon? Easier to whine than work? C'mon bro -- enough already.Comment
