I have not seen it stated anywhere at this point, but they still have things to announce yet. -
Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
The idea of Gameflow is kind of neat because it brings in aspects of gameplanning, which is cool. However, I call plays based on what I'm seeing from the defense and what's working that particular game. I don't have 2-3 designated "3rd and short" plays that I run. I typically like to spread the field in that situation and then run a quick hitter up the middle, but maybe they're stuffing the spread runs and I need to get into a tight formation. Or, I might decide that I can get someone behind the defense and take a deep shot. Bottom line, I don't want the computer to call random plays from a selection, even if I'm the one who picked the selection of plays, because I simply don't know what the situation will be.
If EA really wanted to do something great with Gameflow, it should be a part of dynasty mode. On Sunday, you would study the personnel, statistics, formations, and tendencies of your upcoming opponent. Based on this, you would set up a gameplan for various situations both on offense and defense. Then, throughout the week, your team would practice these plays (with you being able to emphasize certain plays) and gain an execution bonus for that game. You would still be able to call any play you want in-game, but in those critical situations, you'd have your go-to-plays that you worked on all week ready to go. Also, if you keep going to the same plays in the same situations week after week, you might find that your opponents have read the scouting report and worked on a counter throughout the week.
Anything to help emphasize the "chess game" aspect of football would be a big plus to me. Of course, none of that matters if the play on the field and CPU play-calling AI isn't as realistic as possible. They have to get those right (or at least mostly right) first.Comment

I don't play Madden. Is that seriously what gameflow did? It randomly chose plays for you? Could you at least turn that off in Madden? I'd really hate to have the CPU calling my plays for me.Favorite Teams:

College #2: Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater)

Please no!!!!"Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."

Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
A lot of overstatement going on here. Madden gave you the option after every play to either use Game Flow or choose your own play. Also, you had the ability to set up which plays you want to use in which situation and how often. Is Game Flow perfect? No, but it certainty is not the end of the world like some people would have you believe.Comment

Perhaps, but the overwhelming opinion of gameflow was negative. If it ain't broke...A lot of overstatement going on here. Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
Good God I hope not. That gameflow was one of the main reasons I played Madden maybe 12 times this whole year. And the strategy pad was even worse. I hope they take that crap out of Madden this year. They always take a feature out. Please let it be Gameflow/Strategy PadComment

Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
Game flow, heck no......
Game planning however where you were able to choose plays based on down and distance and where the cpu actually ran what you setup, made playing against the cpu in franchise mode a blast to play in Madden 11.
However eventualy EA deleted the game planning for the cpu with one of their patches. When they did that, I stopped playing Madden and went back to NCAA 11.
Madden 11 without game planning was the same old same old Madden. Playing against the cpu who ran plays that made no damn sense at all for that down and distance. Mainly because it was programmed based off who started last year and not for who was actually the starter.
The Eagles for example whole game planning was designed for Kolb being the QB, so when they updated the roster and had Vick starting, the cpu still treated it as though it was Kolb and had Vick passing for absurd amount of attempts.
NCAA suffers from the same problem, play calling based off who was starting the year before and not currently. Which is why when you play Auburn and Michigan, the year before they had pocket QBs who passed a lot, but when you updated the rosters with Denard and Cam starting, they still had them passing a lot.
Play calling should be based off of personel that you have currently.Comment

Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
Yeah, didn't mean to make it sound like you had to go with the play that Gameflow selected. If you didn't want that play, you could simply hit a button to go to the full play call screen. It's just that is was a nuisance to have an extra step in the play calling process. Especially since there was a bit of a delay when switching to the full playbook. It just wasn't worth it since I only used the Gameflow play once, or maybe twice, a game.A lot of overstatement going on here. Madden gave you the option after every play to either use Game Flow or choose your own play. Also, you had the ability to set up which plays you want to use in which situation and how often. If it was something in dynasty mode that needed to be tailored to fit each opponent from week-to-week and gave you the ability to emphasize these plays in practice throughout the week, I would use it. But as it is now, I'd rather go straight to the full playbook after a play. That's all I was trying say.Comment

Re: Game Flow in NCAA 2012
EA/Tib said in the past that they had statistics to validate that Gameflow and Gameplanning were a hit with the community. I just don't know if I buy that.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Gameflow was one of those features introduced last year that will hardly (if at all) get touched in M12. And if that's the case, it's a shame b/c it had some potential. It just needed to be improved in regards to how it was implemented IMO.
The Gameplanning itself took too long. It provided depth, but I'm going to assume only the hardcore actually used it, and most of the hardcore is pressed for time as it is. I would've been happy if they had a quick-gameplanning feature, where I could move playcalling sliders instead of having to select specific plays. For example, for each offensive situation, they could have a run/pass slider. And then add a subset of sliders under each option for more in depth control: inside/outside/pitch/counter/draws for runs, and quick/medium/deep/etc for passes.
Gameplanning would be ideal to change week in, week out in your franchise. It would bring it to life! But without a quicker option, forget it!Comment
