    MLB 2K11 - 1995 Season Rosters (360)

I am working on a project that I just started on Sunday (May 1st)... Bin Laden's death inspired me.

But seriously, I am going to try and create the entire 1995 Season Rosters. This is going to be a LONG work-in-progress, so I ask of your patience. If you've played with my historic NBA rosters, you know I give due diligence to detail... This will be a lot of work, and I am probably not the brightest bulb for taking this on, but I'm a roster nut so I'll give it a shot.

Why 1995? I was 23 and a DIE-HARD Cleveland Indians fan. I had the privilege of attending a number of games that season, having grown up in northeast Ohio. Albert Belle (yeah, that guy) is my all-time favorite player. He had his faults, but I loved him. That is the season he did the 50/50 thing (homers and doubles). The Indians played the Braves in the World Series, and baseball was at a peak in talent.

Like I said, give me time. I'm shooting for around late June - that gives me a couple months. There's a lot of research involved, but I also want to make sure that all MLB teams have around 30 players for you to use.

My process will be to get players named correctly, with all correct information (correct batting sides and throwing arms) - making certain that player models (ie. skin colors) match up as best as possible.

I'll then try to determine a way to rate them, but I'll burn that bridge when I get there. I will have correct lineups and pitching staffs as the final aspect of getting them together.

I'll do my best to keep you updated on my progress. I will have this file on 2K Share and also provide here in a .ROS format for non-live users. Obviously this will be for the 360.

If you guys can provide me any solid sites for research purposes (information, pictures, videos, etc.) please DO SO!!! I am using www.baseball-reference.com as my main source.

I am excited about this project and believe when completed it should provide a great deal of fun!

    Thanks, mike

      Re: MLB 2K11 - 1995 Season Rosters (360)

Been working on these today (Monday is my day off - kids at school and the wife's at work)...

I have the Indians and Royals completely done. I have not done player ratings in depth yet, but I'll do those later. I also have the Mariners batters all done.

After reviewing rosters, what I'm going to do is provide 15 pitchers and 15 batters per team. I'll use my judgment on some guys as there were late call-ups where a key youngster was added (for example, Joe Randa of KC - so I dropped a SS who played a number of games but I had plenty of middle-infielders).

My only fear is that the game won't let me name all the players I need so I'll just see how this goes. Fortunately the Indians had Thome, Ramirez and Vizquel in the game and Johnny Damon for KC as well...

See my thread for a review of a game I played tonight as Cleveland at home vs. KC...

4 teams named... 15 pitchers and 15 position players each.

Cleveland, Boston, Seattle and Kansas City done.

Just curious, how are you going to go about getting the ratings for these players. Do you have some kind of formula or are you winging it?

The reason I ask is that I tried to come up with a formula based on simulated stats, but it seems like there is very little consistency or correlation based on ratings.

a combination of winging it and some type of formula...

what i'm going to do is get all the players named with appropriate player models (as best as possible - 2k isn't a fan of the mustache, so it kinda puts a kink in things).

I am then going to review 2k's current ranking system for today's players and see if i can get some sort of comparison.

these rosters won't be perfect because a lot of pitch types are just good guesses... but i figure if i can pull this off (with each team having 30 players per team) then these will provide a lot of fun.

i did a practice game as cleveland (me) at boston. I lost 9-2. mark clark got shelled for 4 runs in the 4th inning. zane smith pitched for boston. I had my chances but couldn't get the big hit. mo vaughn and mike greenwell had homers for boston. eddie murray hit a shot for me. was fun, even in the loss...

Alright, I look forward to trying them out. Hopefully you'll find the time for others down the road as well, I'd love to play the '98 season with McGwire and Sosa going at it for the home run title.

Thanks! This is turning out to be a ton of work. I can assure you I'll only be doing the 95 season. I want to provide 30 players for each team. 95 was my favorite all-time baseball season ever. I will try and get 2 teams done per night (named) and then it will probably take me another month to get all the ratings done.

Again, my only fear is running out of memory to name all the players. I don't know what the cutoff is. I'm going to get all the playoff teams done first (I started screwing around with KC probably a bit too soon) and then go from there.

Man, that M's team will be sick offensively. Edgar Martinez, Griffey, and Buhner were one of the best hitting trios ever.

You're a glutton for punishment, mk! I was hoping for the strike year of '94 but this is interesting. What are you going to do about the Expos?

I believe I found my clone. I think you are like me and probably spend more time making classic rosters then playing the games. I am interested in starting some of these also, but I think I am going to let you be the guinea pig and find out the roster limitations first! If it works out I may do the Bonds, Bonilla, Van Slyke pirates. The strike year was a good idea also. See if the Expos could win it all, Matt Williams could have broke the HR record too.

Anyways looking forward to these very much.
