What happened to the "stiff arm" in NCAA11?

IIRC they had the shoulder shrug/charge but what happened to the actual stiff arm? I hadn't had the chance to play Madden11 much but I saw from the Hillis video clear cut stiff arms for the Madden12 trailer, did I just miss it? That is all

In order for it to be effective in NCAA 11 the player's strength and stiff arm rating had to be pretty high.

I think collision detection will make the stiff arm look and feel alot better.

the stiff arm from one of the videos out there looked pretty good. now how often it will be effective, who knows until we get a chance to play it!

Re: What happened to the "stiff arm" in NCAA11?

In the past few years or so, stiff arm animation has always been weak looking and very ineffective on default rosters. Every once in a while during dynasty you might recruit a stud who was strong enough to have it done correctly.

IMO they really need to have power backs and general slow people use it more when they run the ball. I swear ever since they introduced juke moves, that is all you see runners do majority of the time. They either juke or spin, but they will juke more often then they would spin.

You very rarely see them stiff arm. And when they do stiff arm, by default they rated so low in strength that it doesn't even push the defender off of them.

When in reality, the backs who are strong, use stiff arms more often they do jukes and spins to get out of tackles.

Re: What happened to the "stiff arm" in NCAA11?

They still use the stiff arm.....i don't think the strength rating has to be that high but i could be wrong. Maybe the stength effects how often they use the move i haven't really tested that theory out. But i only like to give OL and DL 80+ strength with very few LB's and RB's being the acception

This is Chuck Muncie with a 76 strength rating and 96 stiff arm rating

Here's Donovan McNabb his stiff arm rating is 75....you'll see him use it twice on this carry

This is Ernest Wilford he's rated only a 67 in stiff arm...i think his move was effective because the LB was already losing his balance on the play

At the very end of this long run you'll see Virginia Tech's RB Cyrus Lawrence break out a stiff arm perfectly

Re: What happened to the "stiff arm" in NCAA11?

i would say not so much the stiff arm is not there. it is the whole trucking or bulldozing over someone that has completely dissappeared in ncaa 11

Re: What happened to the "stiff arm" in NCAA11?

It requires timing. I used to never get it to work, but I ended up figuring it out and I can now get it to work when it should almost always.
