Road to Glory - A Walk-On Who Made the Team Wants You to Know What It Really Means

Alex Howell has championship rings and he brings his own experiences into NCAA Football 12's Road to Glory mode. Check out the article over at Kotaku, via Owen Good.

"Alex Howell is the first dedicated designer assigned to NCAA Football's "Road to Glory" career mode, introduced in 2005 and fairly neglected for the past few years. Joining EA Sports less than a year ago, Howell's only job is to breathe new life into one of sports gaming's first singleplayer career modes."

I think that it is great that someone who played college ball and went through that is making RTG. I love that he is adding RPG elements to it.

This is great to read that EA brought in someone with big-time college football experience who also has knowledge of programming and understands the task of making a video game. I'm looking forward to hearing what's in store for RTG and if this guy can truly revamp the mode.

I've been waiting for them to do this for ages. Very hyped about RTG, as I really think it would be could to go from college to the NFL with Maddens all new system.

I've had fun with RTG and other first person modes in other games, (RTTS in The Show, BAP IN NHL), but to be honest if they scrapped this mode and dedicated those resources to other things, I would be more than ok with that.

Scrapping RTG wouldn't do much for the game. The mode itself doesn't really take up much at all.

Same I don't even personally understand the appeal of these modes but it's whatever.

                    In your opinion.

For me these games, whether it's RTTS (MLB Show) or BAP (NHL series) or RTG they really keep my attention for a limited period of time. I do have some fun with them, but if they went away, I would be ok with that.

Even though I used to Love RTG(it was all I played practically in 08), at this point I really wouldn't mind if they scrapped it, that is unless the changes they've made this year are really spectacular. This article is encouraging though, seems like there's someone who actually cares about the mode now.

I think it would be really good. I think alot you are thinking that RTG is holding NCAA back. I cant wait to play it. Especially since I usually wait until named rosters come out and that I will edit the named roster.
oMy main things/gripes about RTG is that only 5 min quarters, no commentary, bad playcalling, practice didnt mean anything, no depth off the field, not being able to be KR/PR, once you became starter you never had to worry about practices or competition, It wasnt fun playing all the positions especially in practice. I hated playing as a HB for a running team and only getting 10-17 carries a game or playing for a pass-heavy offense and only throw 15-20 times a game. I understand that they are trying to have a reallife experience with having no presentation, But other games has it and it adds depth. The problem with SUperstar/RTG is that it relies solely on gameplay and since gameplay isnt great for all positions it does not have depth
I think NCAA will follow the MAdden Superstar and have Skill Points too. Hopefully it has Longer Quarters, Commentary/Presentation, Practice Meaning something/Competition, Better Play Calling, KR/PR, Possible Drills and a High school season. With all the additions to Presentation hopefully it is in RTG.
I am definitely importing my RTG to Superstar mode, havent done that in years because Superstar was horrible.

Its been mentioned by EA on here before that scrapping RTG and Season Showdown would not open them up much space at all to add anything on the disk. I never said anything about man hours, though, but thats obvious.

WTF would I be talking about space on the disk? What does that have to do with anything?
