    OSFM Variation Sets

I was just wondering if we could post a thread for all of the roster sets that have used OSFM. I see that there are posts that say OSFM w/Razr pitch edits, etc.

It would be nice to know which set is which because there is a large variation from one set to another.

I notice a major difference in pitch edits.

I agree. That way we"ll be able to follow each rosters seed.

I'm using Knight's OSFMV3...honestly i have no clue about what features this particular set contains but I don't see anything wrong with it

        Re: OSFM Variation Sets

K, I just saw this thread after sending you an IM. I didn't want to discuss this publicly because I don't want to deal with negative feedback and immature and/or rude comments. I understand that negative feedback can be helpful, but I'm talking about the immature types of replies that roster makers typically tend to get from some of the new members.

I posted a set in the vault earlier (May 26) for a friend and then deleted it because I listed the wrong base set that I used for it. So after seeing this thread, I figured I would let everyone know about it in case any of you download it. Then, I decided to rename it, make a few more changes and then upload it again.

PSN ID: Saved__By__Grace (There are two underscores between each word.)

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded a new version that includes a few hundred more changes (a few hundred attribute changes and a few changes to faces, stances and equipment) mostly to MiLB players. It is also a 25 man roster set. It is called "J19v5 (OSFMv2 O.D. base)". It was uploaded on May 28.

        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        ---------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.2. It's labeled "J19v5.2 (OSFMv2 OD base)". It was uploaded June 11.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.3 to the roster vault. It's labeled "J19v5.3 (OSFMv2 OD base)". It was uploaded June 15. I just uploaded it to Sendspace, also.

Note: I made a few more changes to the file (version 5.3) on Sendspace than I did to the file (version 5.3) in the roster vault because I uploaded the one in the roster vault earlier and I just uploaded it to Sendspace, so I had made a few more changes to it.

Version 5.3 includes My version of Anthony Rendon, Kolten Wong, Chris Reed and George Springer are included, along with a few hundred various attribute, stance, delivery, face, pitch type and pitch speed edits.

For the record, I should have made Kolten Wong a B, but I made him an A and I didn't want to create him again. I spent a lot of time of each of their faces. I gave them proper stances, deliveries, pitch types, pitch speeds and equipment.

They are also in the roster vault, along with my version of Manny Machado, Anthony Rizzo, Eric Hosmer, Clint Robinson, Mike Moustakas, Aaron Crow, Gary Brown, Jarrett Parker and Cord Phelps. My PSN ID is Saved__By__Grace.

I recreated Manny Machado's face because he looked like an orc. I also tweaked his attributes, gave him his proper equipment and a better stance.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.7 to the roster vault (June 17). It's labeled "J19v5.7 (OSFMv2 OD base)".

I tweaked and corrected a few dozen attributes (MLB and MiLB). I added 15 players to version 5.7 who were not on version 5.6.

There are 29 draft picks included on version 5.7. The draft picks included are: Gerrit Cole, Danny Hultzen, Trevor Bauer, Dylan Bundy, Bubba Starling, Anthony Rendon, Archie Bradley, Francisco Lindor, Javier Baez, George Springer, Taylor Jungmann, Jose Fernandez, Jed Bradley, Chris Reed, C.J. Cron (I used someone else's and did not tweak the face. I did tweak the attributes,), Sonny Gray, Matt Barnes, Tyler Anderson, Kolten Wong, Alex Meyer, Taylor Guerrieri (I used someone else's and did not tweak the face. I did tweak the attributes.), Blake Swihart, Sean Gilmartin, Joe Panik, Levi Michael, Mikie Mahtook, Josh Bell and Dillon Howard. Leonys Martin (Rangers) has also been included.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.71 in the roster vault under "J19v5.71 (OSFMv2OD base)". It was uploaded on June 21.

I added Jackie Bradley Jr., Matt Purke, Aaron Westlake, Daniel Norris, Daniel Vogelbach (I used someone else's version and I didn't edit him.), Cory Spangenberg, Robert Stephenson and Joe Ross.

I also made a few various edits to other players.

There are now 37 draft picks included in this version. The other draft picks included are: Gerrit Cole, Danny Hultzen, Trevor Bauer, Dylan Bundy, Bubba Starling, Anthony Rendon, Archie Bradley, Francisco Lindor, Javier Baez, George Springer, Taylor Jungmann, Jose Fernandez, Jed Bradley, Chris Reed, C.J.

I added all of the new players on version 5.71 to the free agent 1 list.

I didn't use any existing player on the actual set to create these players. I used players from the vault, but I ended up basically recreating all of them because I completely changed their heads in most cases, faces in all cases except for Cron and Vogelbach (I think those were the only two) and that was just because I forgot to edit them, body types in some cases, attributes in all cases except for Vogelbach because I didn't edit him at all, stances/deliveries in most cases and equipment for all players except for Cron and Vogelbach.

The potential ratings matched what I would have rated them, except for Wong who is an A (I would have made him a B) and Westlake who is a C (I would have made a B).

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.72 to the roster vault (June 23) under "J19v5.72 (OSFMv2OD base)".

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.73 to the roster vault (June 25) under "J19v5.73 (OSFMv2OD base)".

I started a franchise and noticed some things that were still not correct. I only added these changes to a roster file because one of my friends wanted to download my set, so I updated it for him and decided to post about it for everyone else. I don't know how anyone can run a franchise or a season with the default rosters. I've made thousands upon thousands of changes and I'm still noticing too many things that are not correct.

I corrected various hitting attributes for a few dozen various players, pitch speeds, pitch types and pitch attributes for quite a few various players (more Phillies relievers than any other team's pitchers), tweaked Dustin Ackley's face and added some more stances and deliveries.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.74 to the roster vault (July 15) under "J19v5.74 (OSFMv2OD base)".

I made a couple of hundred changes, tweaks and corrections to attributes, faces, stances and deliveries.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.75 to the roster vault (July 25) under "J19v5.75 (OSFMv2OD base)".

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.76 in the roster vault (8/1/11) under "J19v5.76 (OSFMv2OD base)".

I tweaked and corrected (MiLB and MLB players) a couple of hundred more attributes, a few dozen pitch types, pitch speeds, stances and deliveries. I also made a few lineup changes to MiLB teams.

I also created former Red Sox and current Mariner prospect Chih-Hsien Chiang as a B prospect and recreated Jose Altuve, Collin Cowgill and Paul Goldschmidt as B potential players.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.77 to the roster vault (8/1/11) under "J19v5.77 (OSFMv2OD base)".

I don't plan on releasing an update to this.

I tweaked/corrected Rafael Soriano, Koju Uehara, Jim Johnson, Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, Aroldis Chapman, Bronson Arroyo, Robert Andino, Mark Reynolds, Joe Paterson, Michael Bourn, Carlos Gonzalez (just arm accuracy to 83 and arm strength to 89) and Daniel Bard.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.78 to the roster vault (8/2/11) under "J19v5.78 (OSFMv2OD base)".

The edits are listed at the bottom of this post.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I just uploaded version 5.781 to the roster vault (8/20/2011) under "J19v5.781 (OSFMv2ODbase)".

I decided to label it 5.781 because it basically only contains the updates, tweaks and changes that I've listed in this thread since I uploaded version 5.78.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just uploaded version 5.782 to the roster vault (September 18) under "J19v5.782 (OSFMv2ODbase)".

        Here is a download link:

        http://www.sendspace.com/file/6t95zh

Edit: I re-uploaded this file on 1/17/12 after making a few changes to some of the top 50 prospects.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is Srudoff's spreadsheet that shows you who to add back to the 40 man roster and who to add to the disabled list once the regular season begins, if you want to:
        https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...0E&hl=en#gid=1

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: If you don't want the draft picks to make the Future's Game, you'll need to replace them with other players. You might be able to put them on the DL to avoid this, but I'm not sure.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the record, I originally thought I used OSFMv2 as a base and then I confused myself after thinking about it, so I deleted it and relabeled it (OSFMv4 base), but I just realized that it's version 2 that I used. Specifically, it's this version. For the record and for those who do not want to click on that link, it's OSFMv2 Opening Day with Beckham's stances, RunandShoot's equipment edits and Bamafan's (originally RAZR's) pitch edits.

Since those pitch are no longer anywhere close to accurate, I decided to start making my own pitch edits using pitch f/x sites. Those are included, as well, but I didn't edit every single MLB pitcher on the game. The ones who were still very close to being accurate, I left. Some of players were excluded because I didn't have a set method of making edits. What I can say is that almost every starter was edited, most of the top relief pitchers were edited and especially the relief pitchers who were vastly underrated were corrected. I would say that 95% of the starters have been corrected. As for the relief pitchers, I have no idea.

With that being said, before I started editing the rosters, I only played a few games. It seemed like the pitch speeds were a lot closer to what their in game attribute speeds state, so I went ahead and entered the exact average speeds of each pitcher's pitches. After I started playing games with my edited roster, I noticed that sliders tend to go 2-4 MPH over what the pitch is labeled, fastball speeds are sometimes 2-4 MPH hour over their listed speeds and change ups have to be thrown almost as hard as you can throw a pitch to get the pitch to travel it's listed speed. I don't know what changed from then then or if it's just random and I've gotten a few games where pitch speeds increase for some reason. Maybe the radar gun is juiced at the stadium I've been playing in. For the record, these are spring training games. Also, I know that pitchers can and do throw pitches harder than their averages that are listed on pitch f/x sites, but it's not as common as it is in the video game.

As for the attributes outside of pitch types and speeds, I've changed thousands of them. I usually make a lot more changes to MiLB attributes each year, but they look pretty good this year. I probably made a few hundred changes to MiLB attributes, though. Also, I corrected quite a few faces and recreated some players so they would have different potential ratings. I can't even remember who I changed now.

There are quite a few center fielders who are rated higher overall than I would like them to be, but that's what happens when you have a very good to great defensive center fielder who is at least an average hitter. Change those CFs to left or right fielders and watch how much their overall rating decreases. If the high ratings of those center fielders bothers you, just change their position and leave them in CF.

For the record, simulation stat results really do not play much of a factor into the attributes that I choose for a player because simulation results have been way too random since MLB 10. I want players to be able to play like they really play when you are playing with them.

I also corrected the stances and equipment of a select few of the top MiLB players. I couldn't even list who those players are.

I've put dozens upon dozens of hours into editing this set.

I hope all of this makes sense to everyone.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit (7/18/11): I use my own custom sliders. I play on All-Star with meter pitching and zone hitting.

Also, you should have another slider set that you use for simulating the CPU games.

Here are the changes that I make to sliders (CPU and user)

        For CPU simulating:

        Contact: 4
        Power: 3
        Foul Frequency: 4
        Pitcher Consistency: 2
        Manager Hook: 2
        Fielding Errors: 10
        Fielder Run Speed: 3
        Fielder Arm Strength: 2

        For user controlled games:

        Human Foul Frequency: 6
        Human Pitcher Control: 10
        Human Pitcher Consistency: 10
Note: I use meter pitching with a little input lag, so this might add way too much control on classic or analog pitching.
        CPU Solid Hits: 4
        CPU Pickoffs: 0
Note: They still throw over way too much, so this isn't to gain an advantage.
        Fielder Run Speed: 2
        Fielder Reaction: 4
        Fielder Arm Strength: 4
Note: You might want to turn it down to 3. I haven't decided what's best.
        Baserunner Steal Ability: 8
Note: Turning it up to 9 might actually make it more realistic because too many players in the upper 50 to upper 60 range still get horrible jumps most of the time.

If you're playing with injuries on, you might want to turn them down a couple of clicks.

A huge part of hitting comes down to if you have any input lag on your TV and the camera angle that you use.

I turn pitch speed down 4 clicks because I'm using an older Samsung 720p TV that has a slow processor.

If you have a "game mode" on your TV, make sure that it's on and make sure that any picture and color enhancements are turned off in the TV's menus.

Here is a great thread on this topic: Those that have Samsung LCD'S and have frame rate issues with demo try this

For some excellent information on custom camera angles, you should check out this: My Custom Offset Camera's To Outside Has Me Seeing the Ball The Best...

With everything stated in that thread, I find that using a wide angled offset camera is definitely the only way to play. I switch from inside to outside camera angles depending on the pitcher.

I just looked at a few simulation results at the all-star break and noticed that Scott Rolen's baserunning attributes are way off, along with some other things. His baserunning ability should be in the low to mid 80s and his baserunning aggressiveness should be around 5.

I should have ran some simulations before i stared my franchise, but I spent so much time on the rosters that I just wanted get a franchise started.

Also, here are some baserunning stats (stolen bases) that stood out at the All-Star break for two separate simulations:

        Bourne 48
        Pierre 40
        Ellsbury 39
        Tabata 22
        Rolen 19
        Rasmus 14

        Bourne 49
        Ellsbury 36
        Pierre 33
        Tabata 28
        Rolen 15
Rasmus 7 (I know that simulation results vary way too much, but is half as the previous simulation.)

The rest of them, for the most part, were very accurate. Obviously, Rolen and Pierre stand out the most. For Pierre, I would decrease his baserunning ability to 78 and his baserunning aggressiveness to 78 because he's 15-25 on the year. As for the others, you might want to decrease their baserunning aggressiveness by about 5 points.

I looked at the Future's Game and realized that they're including some of the draft picks that I included. I'm going to have to go in and add all of these players to the free agent list in my franchise.

Edit (7/20/11): I'm not going to post the majority of individual changes that I make, but here are a few that I have typed out for various reasons:

        Cory Wade

        stamina 26
        pitching clutch: 63
        H/9: 74
        HR/9: 78
        K/9: 68
        BB/9: 61

        cutter
        48/68/74

        sweeping curve
        32/65/82

        change up
        42/63/65

Dayan Viciedo need an increase to his contact and power attributes. His speed and defensive attributes need to be lowered a little. I have him at:

        RT contact: 77
        LT contact: 59
        RT power: 65
        LT power: 57
        plate vision: 56
        plate discipline:57
        clutch: 65
        speed: 42
        baserunning aggressiveness: 4

Viciedo's fielding should probably be around 50 and his fielder reaction should probably be in the mid to upper 40s.

Justin Masterson's sinker should be rated 77/89/70. His second pitch should be a 4-seam fastball that's rated 68/88/48 and his third pitch should be a slider that's rated 41/74/61. He shouldn't have a fourth pitch.

Edit (7/21/11): The break on Tim Wakefields sinker should be around a 48. Here is a link:
        http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxg.as...& date=0&dh=0

Here are the edits that I made to Jacoby Ellsbury:

        RT contact 93
        LT contact 68
        RT power 54
        LT power 40
        bunting 72
        drag bunting 59
        vision 65
        discipline 59
        clutch 86
        durability 95
        speed 95
        arm strength 61
        arm accuracy 63
        reaction 83
        fielding ability 89
        baserunning ability 92
        baserunning aggressiveness 85

For Roy Halladay, I just loaded the default rosters and I see that I edited some of his attributes, except for his pitch types and pitch speed ratings and - for some reason - his curveball. I must have stopped editing while editing him and never went back and finished him because I did edit his other attributes. His pitch types are edited differently than the default rosters because of Razr's 2009/2010 edits that were entered before I took the file and began editing it.

        Roy Halladay's updated attributes:

        98 stamina
        98 clutch
        82 H/9
        82 HR/9
        82 K/9
        94 BB/9

Splitter (because of the straight downward movement on the pitch)
        86/96/68

        Cutter
        63/93/70

        Sweeping Curve
        50/83/75

        Sinker
        72/89/75

        Circle-Change
        27/82/78

        Evan Longoria

        reaction 88
        fielder ability 93

        Adrian Beltre

        reaction 88
        fielder ability 87

        Jhoulys Chacin

Chacin needs a cutter instead of his 2 seam fastball. The ratings on it should be: 63/78/48.

The speed on his sinker should probably be a 60 (89 MPH).

His curveball break should probably be turned down a little to about a 61 or 63.

You might want to set his changeup at a 27 speed (83 MPH) because the speeds of changeups are so messed up on this game.

        I set his HR/9 to a 54 and I set his BB/9 to a 52.

With Chacin's HR/9 and BB/9 being adjusted, there are others who need adjusted to. If anyone's interested in changing those attributes for the league leaders in walks issued and home runs given up, go to mlb.com, click on stats, go to pitchers, sort their BB and HR numbers and then make the necessary changes.

I edited Brandon Morrow, Jason Hammel, Aaron Cook and Madson again.

        Brandon Morrow

        stamina 82
        clutch 75
        H/9 77
        HR/9 74
        K/9 92
        BB 65

        splitter
        99/75/61

        slider
        65/70/75

        cutter
        79/72/72

        changeup
        5/65/61

        sweeping curve
        63/57/72

        Jason Hammel

        stamina 82
        clutch 63
        H/9 56
        HR/9 63
        K/9 54
        BB 54

His primary should be a cutter at 68/82/65.

        slurve
        65/74/74

        curveball
        53/65/82

        changeup
        12/65/65

        splitter
        98/72/48

        Aaron Cook

        stamina 75
        clutch 63
        H/9 50
        HR/9 78
        K/9 42
        BB/9 56

        70/78/74

        slurve
        68/68/57

        sweeping curve
        24/63/63

        Ryan Madson

        stamina 25
        clutch 78
        H/9 82
        HR/9 85
        K/9 78
        BB 68

        sinker
        82/78/63

        circle-change
        22/89/65

        cutter
        68/71/68

I recreated Ryan Vogelsong with a B potential and updated his attributes again.

        Ryan Vogelsong

        stamina 82
        clutch 82
        H/9 75
        HR/9 78

        Updates for version 5.78:

I just started looking through the catcher's defensive ratings and noticed some things that needed tweaked. I did not go over every MLB catcher, so this is not every change that needs to be made.

I also lowered Brett Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Dallas Braden and Bobby Cramer's stamina, clutch and per nine attributes a little bit where it was needed.

I also made a few other small changes here and there to some players.

I just noticed that I had not made all of the corrections that I thought I had to this set. That's what you get when you're making changes to your own franchise file and trying to include those same changes on a separate set.

Move "back head shape" a little to the right, move "eye region" a little to the left, move "depth detail" a little to the left, move "bone position" all the way to the left and "brow detail" slightly to the left.

His "slider" (as he calls it) acts like a cutter most of the time, but he does actually get a two-plane break (more like a slider) on some of them. He actually gets three different cutter/slider type breaks (cutter, slider and slurve) on this pitch. He almost has to have different grips to consistently get these three different breaks.

After I started playing games with my edited roster, I noticed that sliders tend to go 2-4 MPH over what the pitch is labeled, fastball speeds are usually 3-4 MPH hour over their listed speeds and change ups have to be thrown almost as hard as you can throw a pitch to get the pitch to travel it's listed speed. I don't know what changed from then then or if it's just random and I've gotten a few games where pitch speeds increase for some reason. Maybe the radar gun is juiced at the stadium I've been playing in. For the record, these are spring training games.
          Thanks for explaining!

I thought I would let you know after making roster this year I can tell you that pitch speeds are always a little faster than what you set them at while editing the players. It is really annoying but it's not just Spring Training, it is always. I have no clue to why it is this way

For anyone who has already downloaded the set that I uploaded, I made a few dozen changes and uploaded the set under the same name "J19v4 (OSFMv2 O.D. base)".

Like I said before, I don't want to get into a discussion about these. If you don't like them, I would greatly appreciate it if you would keep that thought/opinion to yourself. I just figured that I would post about this upload since I decided to tell a couple of people about it because they were looking for updated rosters that included pitch edits and because I saw a few people asking about this kind of set in other threads.

Can someone make a franchise file for these with opening day lineups and injuries? I know, a tall order, but that would be awesome. haha

I'm going to pretend I never saw this so I don't restart my franchise again. Thanks Jason! hahaha

                    It's titled "J19v4 (OSFMv2 O.D. base)". It was uploaded May 27.

For the record, I originally thought I used OSFMv2 as a base and then I confused myself after thinking about it, so I deleted it and relabeled it (OSFMv4 base), but I just realized that it's version 2 that I used. Scecifically, it's this version.

I hope this makes sense to everyone.
Is there anything we need to do with Spring Training. Is every already set or do we have to make changes right after Spring Training is complete.

haha You're welcome. Just when I think I'm not going to make any more changes, I see more guys who need updated/tweaked/corrected and I make those changes and start again. I could just make them to my franchise file, but I want to make them to a roster file for various reasons and I don't want to make the changes twice (to my franchise file and the roster file), so I keep starting my franchise over.

Hey, Matt, I hope you've been well. This roster file doesn't have the 25 man rosters or the injured players put back.

K, I hope this isn't thread hijacking. I didn't want to start a thread and I thought this thread was appropriate to discuss this.

I edited my original post in this thread a little bit. Here is the main part that I added:

There are quite a few center fielders who are rated higher overall than I would like them to be, but that's what happens when you have a very good to great defensive center fielder who is at least an average hitter. Change those CFs to left or right fielders and watch how much their overall rating decreases. If the high ratings of those center fielders bothers you, just change their position and leave them in CF.

Yeah Jason, it'd be great if someone did. You roster makers/tweakers I give a lot of props to. This task is tedious and not very fun.

I just uploaded a new version that includes a few hundred more changes (a few hundred attribute changes and a few changes to faces, stances and equipment) mostly to MiLB players. It is also a 25 man roster set. It is called "J19v5 (OSFMv2 O.D. base)". It was uploaded on May 28.

Here is Srudoff's spreadsheet that shows you who to add back to the 40 man roster and who to add to the disabled list once the regular season begins, if you want to:
