Legit Roster Question please explain

I have xboxlive, I download the "living roster".....

So why in the F is Boston still #1 overall?! Bulls offense is #18 (their O isn't great...but #18, what a joke.) The Heat are #5?!

I get that it updates trades, injuries, I have noticed and liked that. But, WTF don't these ratings change.

You know how Madden changes the ratings as the season goes (like Cowboys were supposed to be good then plummeted, Packers got a boost for winning it all, etc.)

This was my first year with 2k, and I've really liked this game. However, to me this is inexcusable to have "updated rosters" and still have the Boston Celtics as the numero uno....what a joke?

Someone tell me I'm doing something wrong and it's not really this way...

Bulls offense is terrible what are you talking about?the Celtics are a legit #1 with the overall team they have and Miami only has 3 great players and 9 average players, it averages out..Just because Miami and Dallas are playing in the finals dont mean they should be 1 and 2.

could not agree more. the best overall teams dont always play for the championship. the ratings are pretty accurate for the most part i think.

OK...Bulls offense thing, I won't fight that battle. It just seems to me like these overall ratings haven't changed a bit.

You do realize that these are 7-game series right? This isn't March Madness where one upset and you're sent packing. I totally disagree with you guys saying Dallas and Miami AREN'T the two best teams. DALLAS SWEPT THE LAKERS!!! What do you guys want? For them to play 99-game series? Seriously, WTF?
But, how in the F can you guys tell me that Boston is the best team in the NBA? WTF?

Some of these other ratings are just bad....I personally hate the Heat...but how in the F can you justify them being #5? Get real.

Ratings and rankings are just that... Ratings and rankings.

Boston has a better overall team than Miami. Hence the better ranking.
Doesnt mean they are going to the finals or are the best team in the league. Thats why its a "team" rating or ranking. It doesnt account for the greatness of Lebron James or Dirk Nowitzki or the collapse of great players like Pau Gasol and Kobe who clearly didnt play as well as they are capable of.

IMO theyve done a good job updating the rosters. You'll notice that guys like Noah, B. Griffin, Aldridge, Rose, among others recieved a pretty significant boost in rating over the course of the season.

Dallas is not the #1 or #2 team in the league. They are top 5 but I would think the Celtics, when healthy, are probably a better team. Like they've said, they are just ratings. They aren't definitive where if you sim 100 season, the Celtics will win it 95% of the time because they are ranked #1.

And the Lakers aren't that great anymore. Sweeping the Lakers says more about LA than Dallas.

Yet the Lakers are ranked high. OKC is super-low.

Oh well, I guess I'm in the minority here...I guess I'll just have to sit at home and watch the Finals....just like Boston.

I wonder if Rondo plays 2k11 and wonders why the Heat are ranked #5.

I'm seeing what you mean...kind of. But, it still doesn't seem realistic for a game that is the "ultimate sim." The individual players ratings should be adjusted accordingly.

I'm not trying to troll/flame at all. When Miami beats Boston in a playoff series 4-1, they are BETTER than Boston...plain and simple. I would venture to say that (in NBA especially) is the playoffs that matter. The regular season means much less. I just don't get it...isn't there anyone that agrees with me on this?

One of the few things I consistently like about Madden (I know EA-bash, go ahead) is the ratings. The bottom line is Green Bay won the Superbowl, thus they are highest rated @ 94 (Steelers 92, Chicago 88, etc.) Sure there are people that will say, "the Pats are better than Bears/Steelers/whoever" just as in 2k11 people would say Boston is better than Miami (I still disagree #1 to #5 REALLY?!)

But, my overall point is...we (video game players) can argue about what ratings 2k (video game developers) give us. But, ultimately it should be based on what THEY (the athletes) DO ON THE COURT IN THE PLAYOFFS! That's what the NBA is all about...the playoffs, The Finals. If you are sitting around talking about how Boston is #1, or why the Spurs are better than Dallas or even Memphis.

Well, just realize that you are a video game player with an opinion. In this thing called REALITY, a 7-game series ALWAYS HAS and ALWAYS WILL decide who the best is.

2k11- Please, fix this the right way. This was my first year buying a 2k hoops game. My first 2k game since college b-ball back in '05 I think. I love this game. But, if after Miami wins the Finals (or Dallas, wont happen) if you still have Boston @ #1 and Miami @ #5!?....this game is going in the drawer or trade-in. I will then always kind of laugh to myself about the perception of this being the "most realistic" sports sim ever. Boston @ #1?...c'mon duuuuude.

I swear I'm not trolling...I just really think this is one of the best sports games ever. But, I have a legit beef with the roster updates.

Sure, it is never be perfect. But, Portland #4 and Miami #5....WTF?

Please don't work so hard to give me a quality game (best bball ever) only too flop on the roster updates. I'm sorry but, Madden does a better job of it than 2k11. Sure, apples to oranges to an extent.

But...damn. Look at these playoffs and look at these ratings.

BTW...I'm not a Dallas or Miami fan. But, Dirks shooting needs a boost and Miami at #5 is laughable.

I once saw Mike Miller hit a 3 pointer, so his overall 3 point rating should be 99.

I saw Big-Z take a rebound ANNND block a shot, hence his rebounding and defense should be 99.

Mario Chalmer is a cool guy. He hit that big three for Kansas. Make him 99 overall.

And there you go, now the heat are the best > TEAM < in the league.

Wait wait wait. You're going to trade in a game based on some stupid numbers that the developers gave teams? That's why you don't like this game? I mean, that's a really small aspect to this game in my opinion. I think every players ratings are very accurate, even if the teams might not be.

I dunno man, you are missing a huge element. Even though Mavs and Heat are in the finals, that doesn't mean they should be #1 and #2. You aren't taking into consideration those from the east and west that didn't make the finals. I think the Bulls would've taken the Mavs. Yet they'd be what, #3 in your book? I dunno, your logic on the finals is sorta skewed in favor of post-season gameplay.

How could this carolinethedog character possibly suggest that the team that will be NBAchampions should at least be rated higher than the Port TrailBlazers?....what a crazy suggestion.

Just for emphasis, I think you should give a break-down of how/why the TrailBlazers (who are obviously better than the Heat...right?) are so much better than the Heat. Yeah, that would be good, you could really show cthedog a thing or two about REAL basketball. I mean wow, it's so obvious that Miami is only #5 team in the NBA (not like they're being crowned the champions soon or anything.)
