Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
So, Frazier just said at E3 that when you make a player in superstar mode and get drafted that you automatically become the starter.

How is this disappointing news? This is great news. I should be starting. I don't need to be sitting on the bench. That's for losers. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
But it's unrealistic to expect to start as an UDFA or low round draft pick with an OVR in the 60's.
The name of the mode does lead to your kind of thinking; Superstar mode. I feel the game mode should accurately model a career path of a player in the NFL. It should have multiple options depending on how you want to play the game.
If you want to come in as a day one starter, hit the ground running, I made the Pro Bowl as a rookie type of player, fine.
Me, I'd rather work for the job. Put in the hours, learn from the veterans who are ahead of me on the depth chart. Maybe spend a year on the practice squad and then get worked in slowly.
The game should have more options just to give us that extra level of detail. So you can make the choice of picking the easy high OVR, sure thing for the HOF player; Or the type who will live forever in the memory of true fans, but never reach a Pro Bowl and might just hope to see his jersey hanging from the rafters.Last edited by sniperhare; 06-06-2011, 09:15 PM.Comment

Yep. Save before draft, and run the draft until I get picked by a team that needs me.

Re: Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
That is what I plan to do. I want to hear about how high you can be drafted.
I love the changes we seen for RTG so far(cant wait for more). and I like the changes to SS. I feel RTG has way more depth and is the superior mode. But I like the addition of hearing your coordinator. I hope we see pre-game intros.
I want to see changes to camera angles in both modesComment

This is an amusing post. So I guess Aaron Rogers was a loser all those years that he was learning from Favre while riding the bench?Comment

Sort of Agree
I like the changes to SS, but this is the biggest reason I havent played it since 09.
This kind of want makes me want to skip on this mode, especially since it doesnt look deep and has depth like in RTG. But I still might give it a try. I plan on doing over 6 RTG players. I might only doing 1 SS.
For me to get interested in SS without fighting for job will take a lot of little stuff. I would like to see them take a page from the other BAP modes
The thing that confuses me is that in the SS it states " From here you can navigate to the depth chart and monitor your progress toward the starting job".Comment

Re: Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
This is so irritating. This, along with the witness protection photos for your created superstar are complete buzzkills. EA's logic sucks. They feel that, since a lot of people don't play the mode anyway, they don't have to focus on little things like this. But, did it ever occur to them that, if they did focus on the little things for this mode, a lot more people would play the mode? Its ashame really.Dear Madden,
The little things matter. . what are the little things you say?. . . Idk. . surprise me ;-)

Re: Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
I wouldn't consider this a little thing. It's a huge part of the mode that adds depth. Has anyone from EA said why exactly they have it the way it is? If it's not out of the box, maybe a patch could fix this up? I really hope they're able to address this issue before launch. This is so irritating. Re: Disappointing Superstar News (Automatic Starter)
This is where EA needs to learn from itself and give the option. This sounds more like the team had two dilemmas:
1) A backup in the NFL can sit the bench for very long stretches of time. If you were the third string RB on the team, you may never see action for an entire season outside of special teams. Bottom line: boring to a lot of gamers.
2) The AI may not be present to take into account position battles and performance improvement that warrants a promotion (ie NHL 2011).
Chances are, #1 was a major factor, which made #2 a waste of resources given the people who would want to ride the pine all year.Comment
