So, will the advent of the NHL Action Tracker in EA Sports' NHL 12 herald the coming of an actual intermission, something that's been missing since NHL 07? (Unless you consider the Scouting Report an intermission...)

highly doubt NHL 12 will have actual intermission reports.
EA seemed to want to focus more on-ice improvements (300+ of them) -
Re: NHL 12: Action Tracker = Improved Intermissions?
It looks like there will be no intermission report but it will be awesome to have replays saved in the action tracker. Shots, goals, hits, ect. That has me excited! I'm a replay whore, lol.Now Playing:
1. NHL 14
2. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 Sim Mode
3. ESPN NFL 2K5 w/ Gills 2013 roster update
3. NBA 2K11 w/ mkharsh's 2012-13 rosters
5. Winning Eleven 6 FE patched **2012 transfer window*** update....kick @SSComment

Of course nothing against those who would enjoy intermission reports etc...But damn, I have enough trouble getting through the seasons.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

I've got back to NBA 2K11 for a week now and that's the bottom line with the game. The "goodies" around the game are enjoyable because playing the game is fun. If the game was a pure mess, the intermission, the depth of stats and so wouldn't be that relevant.
I hope EA give us a game we finnaly can enjoy offline, and going from there, add more meat to the bone with all the goodies that enhance a hockey game experience."Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

Yep FB, I agree. There's lots of elements to a great sports game. And the "goodies" are certainly some of those. But solid, believable gameplay imo...is what really gives a sports game, replayability.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Exactly. I don't have anything against intermission, TV-like presentations, beard in the playoffs, real water in the bottles, etc, but to enjoy that, you have to give a game that is fun to play to begin with.

Re: NHL 12: Action Tracker = Improved Intermissions?
Well I'm on board the improved gameplay train, it's alot easier to improve all the small things around the gameplay first. Since they wanted to improve the Presentation this year, I would hope the Intermissions were more realistic rather than a pause screen with the ability to look at key plays for that period.Comment

If EA doesn't care about the modes we're you don't control all the player, then screw the AI part and work on presentation. Since it's not the case, for me it's a lot easier to solve the AI problem, then the year after, go all the way to make the best game available.
If that wasn't about money, skip a year and come back with a title full of new things and that kicks our a**. It won't be done, but there's no way I'll accept a product from EA with tv-like presentation but having goalies that play like sh*t and AI pinning themselves on the boards."Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment
