    Rugby World Cup 2011 (360, PS3)

This is the other rugby game being released this year and is from the creators of Rugby 04, 06 and 08.

    Couple of key facts:
    • Includes exclusive Official Rugby World Cup license
    • Includes exclusive England rugby team license
    • Includes exclusive South African rugby team license

Pics can be found on forum.

In my opinion, Rugby Challenge is still the one to get. It just depends where you're from or what you want from the game. RWC11 doesn't have any franchise mode, no player creator and you can only edit an unlicensed player's name, number, position and statistics. It does have the exclusive World Cup, England and Springboks licenses though, and also France, which isn't confirmed to be exclusive yet.

Rugby Challenge on the other hand, has all the features missing from RWC11 and club teams, which include the ITM Cup, Aviva premiership and the NZ and Aussie teams from the Super 15. It also has the licensed All Blacks and Wallabies teams and apparently the USA Eagles, with NZ stadiums which won't appear in RWC11.

Graphics wise, they both look great, but no videos of gameplay have been released yet.

Pretty sad that the companies have gone for exclusive licenses, as now we have 2 "incomplete" games, but the early previews of both games seem quite positive, so far.

If Rugby Challenge can get imported on the 360, or is available here in the States, i would like to get both. If that can't happen, I'm getting RWC2011.

It's region free so if they don't sell it in the States, you'll be able to import it.

I'll get both, but Rugby Challenge looks like the more complete game at this point.

At this point, it's Rugby Challenge for me. It looks to be a bit more compete, plus it has the iTm Cup, and from what I've been told will have SuperRugby (with fake South Africa teams) and the English Premiership.

Inclusion of three commentary teams announced.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 OFFICIAL VIDEOGAME SET TO OFFER THREE SEPARATE COMMENTARY TEAMS

Sky Sports Commentators Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes join Philippe Sella and Eric Bayle, and Greg Clark and Sean Fitzpatrick.

Milton Keynes, UK – [01, Aug 2011] – UK rugby fans should prepare for a multilingual treat: Global video game publisher, 505 Games and developer HB Studios today announced that not only UK and French commentary teams, but also a team from the Southern hemisphere will grace the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 Official videogame.

Naturally, Stuart Barnes and Miles Harrison head up the UK team. Well-known for their Sky Sports rugby commentary, they have been the voice of Sky’s Rugby coverage for the past two decades, covering all major Rugby matches and tournaments including previous Rugby World Cup matches. Barnes is a former English Rugby Union fly-half for Newport RFC, Bristol, Bath; and represented England and the British Lions at international level, while Harrison is the lead Rugby Union commentator for Sky Sports.

Along with the HD broadcast quality gameplay – covering each pass, kick, tackle and try – Rugby World Cup 2011 will offer an unrivalled level of officialdom, capturing the game of Rugby like never before. Players wanting a bit of Gallic flair on the commentary wings can opt for the French partnership of Philippe Sella and Eric Bayle.

Sella, who once held the record for most international rugby union appearances, was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 1999 and the IRB Hall of Fame in 2008. Bayle is lead Rugby Union commentator for Canal+.

Fitzpatrick, is considered one of the finest players ever to wear an All Blacks shirt and was captain of the New Zealand international side for five years (from ’92-’97). Rather appropriately, he was a prodigious product of the Auckland provincial side whose home stadium, Eden Park, will play host to the Tournament this year. Clark is FOX Sports’ host of ‘INSIDE RUGBY’ and is a well respected journalist with 27 years broadcasting experience. He is considered one of the best ‘callers’ in Australian sports television.

The addition of an unprecedented third commentary team adds yet another dimension of officialdom. The Rugby World Cup 2011 Official Videogame already promises to deliver every pass, kick, tackle and try to gamers fingertips - each of those will now be accompanied by the players choice of commentary from six of the most well known voices in rugby.

I'm so glad we're getting Rugby on the next gen consoles. I still find myself plugging in my PS2 to play Rugby 08 from time to time. I liked the presentation and how the players moved on Rugby Challenge so that's what I'll probably grab.
