How do I stop the goalline power I?

Just got done playing some guy online who spammed this formation the whole damn game. I tried 5-2, blitzing, whatever I couldn't stop it.

Was he just power running out of it? No passing?

I'd stay away from the 5-2 - not enough speed or presence in the middle if they break past the first level. If there's no passing threat, go with 4-4 (assuming you have the LBs or can sub in a good SS) and bring your secondary into either press or show blitz to get them closer to the line.

I play almost exclusively 3-4 though should I start using the 4-3 a little more online? I've tried it and the 4-2-5 and got burned with both. The only defenses I seem to have any success with are the 3-3-5 and 3-4. And I'm using the term "success" lightly here.

This dude was also playing against me when I was using Oregon and on defense he would bring his CBs up into the box so I couldn't run that dive play... Tried speed option, TEs in the flat, etc. but he called blitzes a lot too and killed my spread attack. Couldn't pass or run. If Oregon had an outside threat at receiver their attack would be much more dangerous.

Can't say for online. I only play offline dynasty and in-house games with friends. I don't like the 3-4 in the game and it's my team's base defense. The NT has no double-team effect and there's no schematic difference between LOLB and ROLB (instead of Strong and Weak). I usually wind up transitioning to the 4-3 with a Nickel Strong look converted (formation sub'd) to a run-stopping 4-2-5. It all just depends on what the offense is showing you.

I like the 4-4. It's a versatile red zone defense for me.

With goal-line running defenses, I like playing a 4-4 with the D-linemen spread out and the two middle LBs blitzing in the middle. I then control the back safety in case the runner tries to go out wide due to the line being stuffed.
