can i start a dynasty, then download rosters later?

let's say i started a dynasty already, played like 2 games...

can i download fairdale kings rosters and now have correct names in my game, instead of numbers?

or do i have to restart my dynasty if i want the names?

No. Rosters are finalized once you start dynasty.

negatory my friend. this is somethin ive asked for yeeeears. why not hav the ability to load a roster after u start a dynasty or franchise for madden. in madden it would be nice because u could load new rosters for each week into the game and hav it all 100% accurate but EA apparently cant put a load roster option in tht mode for some reason. and for ncaa itd be nice to hav throughout the year cuz there are 120 schools to try and keep track of, little ridiculous, so bein able to update ur dynasty with a new roster would be nice but i havent been answered on that topic in the past 4 years

You can't. Too many things change. Let's say so and so player is injured in your dynasty. Load up a new roster and ta-da, he's not injured in real life so you have him back. Dyansties, franchises, etc... are only equivalent to real life until you start. Then you are taking a different course. I'd hear more complaining than praise once it came out because the opposite of what I said could happen. You are playing as the Pats and Brady goes down for the season. Not in your franchise... but wait! You use real rosters. Now you have a phantom injury. Players are usually re-rated as the season goes on. Someone isn't as good as they used to be, a la Randy Moss so you lose on that end. It would just be a big ol' mess, not to mention one of the quirkiest programs in history.

thanks guys, i appreciate the responses! my concern was finding that someone is "wrong" as the season was going on, and then being stuck.

but, i imagine, i can just go in and edit/change the players name during my dynasty, right?

i do not really want to change ratings - i never really do that - and i play with Rutgers, a team that's not exactly well-known or highly followed. so the chances are, one of my 3rd string RB's might be named incorrectly... or the fact that Schiano shifted a LB to DL, and a DB to LB - i'd like to be able to "fix" that, if necessary.

i have no real experience with rosters - i'm old school and just used the numbers in the past...

but how awesome would it be if there was like a real life roster option in ur franchise, that u could only play every week once all moves wer updated and injuries accounted for. im rediculous wen it comes to rosters, they hav to be PERFECT lol i hate it

Yeah that is the only way and depending on how many people you need to change it might not be worth it. Also name > numbers, I don't know how you can stand playing without names.

Semi-related, sorry for the dumb question but I am a total n00b (this is my first NCAA game since the PS2). I have downloaded the gamingtailgate rosters and have been playing exhibitions with them but have not started a dynasty yet because I was waiting for the buckeye/gator rosters.

When I download the new ones, will the gamingtailgate ones disappear or do I need to delete them? Once I download the new ones, will they automatically be used in the dynasty I start after that, or will I have to do anything to make sure those rosters are used in the dynasty?

(I ask because I started a new RTG after I had downloaded the gamingtailgate rosters and for some reason my RTG did not use the named rosters. Weirdly, it did use names but they seem to be random names assigned to existing players.)

why are there so many different rosters? do people just download one, and then add/improve/fix them, then upload those? is that why there are so many?

and what makes you choose one person's rosters over anothers? i think fairdale's will work for me because he didnt change ratings - is that one of the big factors?

OK i'll try to address everything. When you download gator/buckeye's rosters, you will give it a name, just like you downloaded gaming tailgate's rosters and it probably saved as "GAMING TAIL" or at least it would have unless you renamed it something else. So when you download buckeye/gator's rosters it will do the same thing. You can name it whatever you'd like and then you can keep both roster files. I am going to use buckeye/gator's for dynasty and use gaming tailgate for online (because I think it's just names in his and you can't change ratings for online games anyway). The way to make sure you have the right rosters for each one is to load them manually. Go into settings or wherever and load buckeye/gator rosters and then go directly into a new dynasty and the dynasty will load with the current rosters (buckeye's since you just loaded them). Then every time you load that dynasty your good to go with names since the dynasty keeps it's own roster within itself, you just give it the rosters to start with.

As for RTG, there is a bug where you can no longer take the real names into your RTG. The way around it is to play your high school career without the names and pick the school you want to go to. Once you are in college, look at your player's ratings and write down everyone of them. There are probably like 40ish or something different categories. Then go load the rosters you want for RTG and then go create yourself in the roster menu and add yourself to the team you got a scholarship to and give your self all of the ratings that you earned from playing RTG (the ones your wrote down). Then save the rosters as a different file (for example if you used "buckeye02" roster file, after you add yourself resave it as "RTG1" so that you do not change your buckeye file. Then with your RTG1 rosters still loaded, start a new RTG but instead of the high school option, choose the use current player option and go choose yourself from the team you were on before. Then your back to where you were at the end of the high school season except now you have player names.

EA did something different with their NBA DNA in the last NBA Live release. You could play through a dynasty as your favorite team with accurate rosters for that day. You had the option to turn this feature on or off. Its essentially a have it or don't have it feature opposed to trying to use both at the same time.
