Charles Barkley should just agree to be in this game already. Screw the ego. Whether he accepts it or not he's a role model.

"By the end of the week we should know who's joining Larry, Magic, Michael—and Kareem and Dr. J.—in NBA 2K12's "NBA's Greatest Mode. If fan voting over Facebook is any guide, it'll be a lot of familiar faces.

2K Sports let the dialogue simmer for a month after announcing NBA's Greatest, and asked the community to weigh in with its choices for the 10 basketball superstars who will have their greatest performances recreated. The game's Facebook page put it up to a vote. Voting has closed, and here are the results:

As you can see, that leaves eight players in the top 20 who neither appeared on an opposing team in last year's NBA 2K11 via its "Jordan Challenge" or who are not currently active players whose likenesses are covered by the NBA Players Association's group license.

2K Sports definitely listens to its social media feedback. Community manager Ronnie Singh ran a showstopping Twitter operation last year that had NBA 2K11 as a global trending topic every day during the week of its release. I'm not sure that all of the public's wishes can be answered here, though.

Charles Barkley, still one of the dominant NBA personalities a decade after his retirement, and Reggie Miller, whose rivalry with the Knicks carried the league during Michael Jordan's minor league baseball sabbatical, are not signatories to the NBPA's retired players' group licensing program. Bringing them aboard would take more money if not other considerations, and this year's game already has three separate covers for Bird, Jordan and Magic, all three of whom are, indisputably, greater players.

At any rate, we'll know soon enough who's on the list of favored 15. NBA 2K12 is due for release Oct. 4."

            What does that mean?

I don't consider Lebron's Cavs tenure as something that's "classic". Not Kobe's early Lakers year's either. It just hasn't gone enough time yet.

For Kobe Bryan Lebron James & Derrick Rose to be on this list,I can only guess that some real younger guys most have voted for them. They are not Legend Players, they should not even be on the list. The only player I would maybe want to see from the 2000's is Allen Iverson & Young Shaq, since he is retired now, every other player should be 90's players and earlier.

Are you serious??? only one person in the NBA has scored more points in a single game than Kobe, for you not to consider that a legendary game makes me think you're just stuck in the past man. Kobe bryant and all these other players would have dominated if they played in the 90s just as they do now.

yeah...but here's the thing....its about players thats no longer in the league...

Kobe is still in, Lebron to...you can play them any time with there respective teams...i want to play with the players from the past and relive there moments in vidya game form...i don't understand why this is so hard to grasp...

i wouldn't mind playing as Wilt and try to score 100 points ingame

I wish active players werent included for this vote though. I don't mind Kobe being number one because i would love to play some of the best games he had but I just think this mode should be for retired legends only.

Did 2k provide those players as choices or have fans "written them in"? I don't understand why they would be included in a list of classic players to be put in the game.

...Kobe? ...other players (LeBron, Derrick)...??? They can "play" if they only played in the 90s. These players are competitive for sure... but I do not think they'd "DOMINATE"...
The NBA in the 90s and years before is just way different from the NBA you know these times. Basketball became "soft" since the rules changed.
