Questions for Madden 12 Creative Dir. Mike Young for 9/1 interview
Hi, on 9/15 (7pm EST) my podcast Dead Pixel Live will be doing a live interview with Mike Young from Madden 12. If you have any questions you want us to ask Mr. Young about the game, you can post them in the chatroom during the interview. What was the reason for the Bills new field art not being in the game?
How come some of the top rookies names aren't in the game? I.E. Jake Locker and Julio Jones' names aren't in the game, but Cam Newton and Casey Matthews names are.
Will they add a new half-time and weekly franchise show, both with a studio and play by play highlights next year? This is something they really need.
What are Mike's expectations of where the game is headed with Cam Weber as the GM of EA Football for Madden 13? -

First of all just a heads up, the interview is now going to be on Sept. 15th, it was pushed back. Get your questions in guys, Mike Young is the creative director now, he's replacing Ian Cummings. Let him know what you want to see next year and in future Madden's.
Here's some more questions I have for Mike Young
Will audio be a big focus in presentation for Madden 13? I've heard there will be a new speech engine in Madden 13, but what other audio improvements have the developers considered? Will there be new crowd chants? Improved crowd noise and more variety? Will there be new play by play and color commentary lines that sound more like tv and less like a video game and not so choppy and patched together?
What visual improvements is the team looking at for next year? Will the Bills new field art, stadium names (i.e. Centurylink Field, O.Co, Sports Authority Field at Mile High, etc..) and other stadium improvements be made? Will we see new crowd and sideline models? Can you add crowds that move around during the game and get out of their seat every now and then to go to concession stands, maybe a large group of them move at halftime, just some ideas. Will they add the "Black Hole", "Dawg Pound", "Terrible Towels" and other team specific crowds to allow for more player/crowd interaction? Also there should be a cut scene showing the raising of the Pirates Flag in Tampa Bay when they get in the redzone.
Mike, you're a Steelers fan, how can the "Terrible Towels" and pouring Ketchup bottles still not be in Madden?Last edited by jpdavis82; 08-31-2011, 11:51 PM.Comment

what happened with the PS3 version this year?....there are CLEAR visual differences between the PS3/360 version?....mostly the field textures.....how did this get past you guys?
moving forward...are there any plans to perhaps make an *optimized* version for the PS3?Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.Comment

Im sure everyone can agree Wr/Db interaction has been lackluster for some time. Are there any plans to address it next year in madden 13 to make it feel more realistic so pass interference wouldnt be a issue.
Also are there any plans to upgrade passing because its also dated and needs a upgrade. Somthing like route based passing people have been asking for would be ideal or just a way to really place the balls where you want them to be whether it be back shoulder to keep it away from a DB or lead passes to keep WR's in stride or on fades passing would be alot more fun if it was more dynamic.Comment

Ask him if in the future can they allow us to edit draft classes
Also ask if we could possibly get the ability to edit weight height and body sliders (arm build belly etc) in franchise mode it would be great if that could be patched in much like NCAA is doing nowComment

Is there a reason you didn't use MLAA for the PS3 version? I believe it is part of the SDK for all developers to use.
there are a couple of other EA games that use MLAA this year...including Portal 2, EA Studio developed games Need For Speed Shift 2, Dragon Age 2, and most likely later this year Battlefield 3 and Need For Speed The Run.Comment

Why are commentators only announcing around 65% of the players on the game including rookies and veterans?
Are custom sounds in plan for Madden 13 design?
What are your thoughts on bringing back the old-gen training camp?
After setting the presentation bar pretty high, will you rest with where it was at? or continue to build off what you have and improve it?
Is simulation and realism the number one focus for madden 13 and the future?

For years nfl enthusiasts have asked for route based passing including qb drop backs tied to primary routes, will Madden 13 be the year its included?
Its common knowledge that the defensive play-calling in Madden isnt representative of how NFL defenses run their schemes, so will tiered play-calling be introduced in Madden?
There have been improvements made to the locomotion of players in the Madden series, but offensive and defensive players still often change direction without realistic footwork. Is this a priority in the near future?
Madden 12 has seen the resurrection of custom playbooks, a fan favorite from last gen. Will other favorites such as custom packages and custom plays make a return to the series?Comment
