Highest player ratings in greatest mode

Besides Jordan, who'll get a 99 automatically, who do you think will get the highest ratings out of all the classic players? And I know overall ratings don't mean everything, it's just fun speculation.

I'm just thinking there will be no other player besides Michael Jordan who gets or deserves a 99.

Probably so. I'm just saying who do you think will get the highest ratings besides him.

99 is just too high for any player even fo MJ imo. About the rest I dunno, gotta wait and see. Prime Pip was 92 in 2K11, prime Bird was 96 I believe, I think Malone was also 92 or something. Players like Magic, young Kareem, Hakeem, Bird, Shaq, Big O among others will have the best ratings next to Jordan, I believe.

sounds about right. I think young Dr. J will probably have to be mid 90s too.

Michael Jordan should be the only player rated 99. I wouldn't be against the fact if Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were rated 99 as well.

If we were getting a prime Wilt or Oscar, they could be, but they're not. Hakeem and Magic are my best guesses behind Jordan.

An in his prime(2nd NBA season) Oscar Robertson would the truest 99 OVR player in history of video games. I understand it was different era of basketball but the guy averaged a triple double for an entire season. 30.8 ppg, 12.5 reb, 11.4 ast, those would still be close to the league lead in any individual category in the NBA today, simply astounding.

I thought one of the insights said the Big O was the only other player to receive a 99. Or that he was "the standard all other legends were measured against" or something along those lines.

If anyone will get the vaunted 99 ovr I think it's a safe bet that it'll be the man who averaged a triple-double.

Hakeem could possibly be a 99 at his position, or at least a 95. What was the hole in his game? He scored, is the all time leader in blocks, was athletic and rebounded, and was a solid passer for a big-man.

That he couldn't guard Shaq one-on-one?

What I mean is that when a player becomes a really good post-scorer, often the only defense against them is to double them or foul them.

I didn't really become aware of basketball until 2000 (When Cuban bought the Mavs), so most of what I know if from word of mouth. Apologies for any giant holes in my basketball knowledge.
