NFL 2k5 vs Madden 12 opinion.

Hi guys. I recently downloaded the Madden 12 demo to try the game out before going to the store and buying it this year, hoping that finally this years edition of the game would win me over and finally be the Madden game that would make me retire NFL 2k5. And I have to admitt, after a couple play throughs I was impressed with Madden 12 and felt like It was solid enough for me to spend 60 buck on. Last night I decided to pop in NFL 2k5 1 more time and play the preaseason matchup between the Seahawks and the Raiders, and I made a veiw observations that brought down my enthusiasm for the new Madden. This video highlights one specific play which I feel demonstrates how good of a game NFL 2k5 is and why I feel that even 7 years later Madden still has not reached the level of gameplay found in this game

2k5 still has better gameplay. Madden just has prettier graphics.

I was craving a football game this year even though I'm not a major fan of the sport. So I tried the madden demo, graphics were great but did I really want to spend 60 bucks on this game?

So I head to the flea market today, got 2K5 for 50 cents. lol. Popped the game in and loved the first game I played. To be honest, I really don't mind the graphics but the game just felt so much better than madden for me.

I already transferred some rosters from nfl2k5rosters over to my 360. This will for sure be the game for me this year. I love it. Paying 50 cents for a way better game of football or 60 bucks for graphics. I'll take the gameplay thanks!

Played the demo yesterday. Not enough to give much of an opinion. It reminds me of what I said last year: "It sure is pretty."

I played several games of the demo and was planning on purchasing it because I do every year, but after reading about the game I decided not to waste my time.

2k5 is still better then Madden and will continue to be for this console generation. I don't think the engine is going to change at this point.

My other reason for not buying it is because once NBA 2k12 comes out that will be getting 95% of my game time.

I have all four games NFL 2k5, NCAA 12, and Madden 12, and Madden 08 on the PC. There are things I like about 4 game and sometimes deciding which to play is hard.

The problem I have with Madden v. 2K5 is the same problem I have with The Show vs. MVP ... the feel of the player movement flow. We should not be talking about comparing games now 7 years apart as being even close to having them in the same conversation.... any yet we do.

And this thread shouldn't be in the 2K5 sub-forum, but in the general forum.

What systems were you comparing it with. NFL 2k5 for xbox actually has really great graphics. For the playstation they are decent, also for Madden 12 which system did you play the demo on?

I was playing Madden 12 and having fun, but I missed 2K5's presentation so decided to fire it up again. Well, last night I started playing 2K5 around 10:30 figuring I'd get in a quick game with eight minute quarters. I used the default roster. I ended up playing until five this morning! With Madden I played the game but it's kind of cut and dry, meaning, the lack of presentation. If Madden had Chris and Suzy, I'd be playing it now. I look forward to the half-time show with Chris Berman, and the post game interview with Suzy is fun, as is the injury updates

The amazing thing for me is playing with a roster 6-7 years old and still enjoying the game. The only thing holding me back from current roster is I like to hear player names announced in the game, which to me makes the game more enjoyable, though I may change my mind and switch to current roster.

Anyway, they are both good games in their own right. Right now I prefer 2K5, but next month it could be Madden 12. The important thing is having fun, and in my mind both games can do that for you. The weird part is comparing 2k5 (6-7 years old) against a current game Madden 12. I mean, like what other current game can be compared to another of same elk from 6-7 years ago--no, don't answer that because it would be off topic, but you get the point.

Meh, madden has the graphics... theres really no other dominating feature lol. But 12 is pretty good, really dig the new franchise mode despite the HORRENDOUS trade logic and lack of CPU team actions/trades.

Idk I love 2k5 alot more only becuase I feel as though I was in a abusive relationship when it came to madden. I played madden since I was 6 with my cousins, brother, dad and always tried to replicate what I seen on TV, but when I got Madden 10 I was so disappointed when after 20+ sliders Adrian Peterson would carry the ball 50 times for 600 yards and sim stats were so off the game was so frusatingly terrible. Then I searched around on Gamespot for any other football game and I read about tecmo, nfl fever, gameday and 2k5. Which brought me to this wonderful site and like anybody I would wonder why the heck did they not make another 2k game then I read about the exclusive license and I felt like madden was the rich snotty kid who paid every one off to get thru life and I was done with madden. So I got 2k5 and downloaded the oldest rosters the 1979 rosters Ilove old football hate all the offense this year so I guess 2k was just for me! I had a wonderful time until the Qb AI and other problems appeared and so I read thru as many threads as possible to answer every problem with this game as possible. I Tried Daflyboys edits and the whole the game played great but for me it ruined the game when you look on the depth chart and Alex Smith is a 98 overall rated and Revis is 46, and even after that the AI QB didn't play great. So after alot of testing I just used sliders minimal edits(from bad animation=aggression), and playbooks to make it perfect.So after my long boring story my point is I played Madden 12 and would just keep going back to 2k5 and all the thiongs EA has done like charge for online, the exclusive license, so I guess you can say that i'm just a ***** and even if madden 13 is great I probably still won't play and have tried to stay away form as many EA games as possible. If anyone is interested I wanted to start making 1960 and 70s rosters and playbooks but I don't know if there are many 2k players still around or if anybody wants to play old football. Just my 2 cent.
