    Injured Reserve? Does it work?

Just started a franchise in madden 12 and already have many players on injured reserve, we were told it was fixed this year but why are they just taking up roster spots? Can anyone help? Am i doing something wrong or is this just another broken feature?

It does work, If a player is placed on IR, it does free up a roster spot this season. I currently have 56 players on my Detroit Lions (Limit is 55) with Mikel Leshoure on I.R.

IRL you can cut an injured player. It can happen in a number of different ways :injury settlement, etc.

The Lions today in fact just waived an injured player. Can't remember said player's name, but it did happen.

This happens frequently. A team will have a player be waived/injured, meaning that the player is on waivers, but if he clears waivers, he reverts to that team's injured reserve. If he is claimed, the claiming team has the option of putting him on injured reserve. I know there's more to it, but that's basically the rule.

An injury settlement is a bit different. He still gets some cash if he "decides" not to play. I think the players union has strict rules about not being able to just cut an injured guy.

Back on topic it's great to see the IR work since it's utilized a lot in the NFL. This way you keep a player on contract but it doesn't count against the cap or take a roster spot. Haven't looked to see if it takes his money off the CAP. People are complaining about the injuries but most teams have atleast 2 guys on the IR by the end of preseason.
Just stop saying that Madden is garbage and you aren't going to buy it. We all know that you are telling a lie so you can feel better about yourself.

it works but I wish we could edit a player from the default roster to IR so that we can manually do roster updates ourselves so that we can fit all the players in 1 team

You can also trade injured players if i remember correctly. I remember the Panthers got someone in a trade (Cleveland Pinkney?) and they failed their physical because of an injury

Yeah since the rosters are 53 in real life and the game can handle 75 there are like 22 extra spots for IR guys

It works. I've been putting players on IR for all teams in my all-32 franchise through 7 weeks of my franchise. It works. You are doing something wrong. How bout you tell us exactly what you're doing so we can help rather than just complain.
