Do you use GameFlow?

I've found that if you use GameFlow, the OC knows when the CPU is going onside kick so automatically lists "onside recovery" as the only play.

If you're using conventional play calling, you're more likely to be surprised with an onside kick when you call a normal kick return, especially if the CPU has just scored and is still losing.

The CPU won't onside kick at the beginning of the 2nd quarter if that's what you mean by "surprise", but then, niether would a real NFL team.

He means the surprise onside kick in which the kickoff team lines up in a regular kickoff formation, but kicks it short and charges for the ball. This can be accomplished by selecting a regular kickoff but pressing "B" both times you would normally press "A" (360 controls). I've never seen the CPU attempt it, and I have a feeling they don't at all.

Knowing EA, they'll make it a feature next year in Madden 13. And fail miserably because the computer will onside kick 4 times a game....
