    BaP Goalie Control issues,bugs

    I`m sorry about the size of fonts ,but this needs the attention..... I`m having huge issues with the goalie controls and glitches involved in the paddle down stance.


    WHY CAN`T I PADDLE DOWN POST HUG?

    Why do I have to get on my feet to go paddle down,when I`m already in BUTTERFLY stance?

    WHY DO MY LEGS KEEP KICKING OUT?

    WHY CAN I ONLY GO INTO THE FLAWED PADDLE DOWN WHILE OUTSIDE THE PAINT?

    WHY DO I HAVE TO USE THAT 1950`s POST HUG?

    This is making BaP goalie pretty much a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

    It`s been dumbed down to the point where the best way you can play is using just LT and Ljoystick, and just go into butterfly and push left or right on the joystick.......just total crap and not even worth wasting time with,...might as well just lie on the ice.....boring.


    The way human goalies are forced into using the VH is horrible,as is going into that horrible 1950`s post hug.

    ALSO,.....he way the VH technique and the 1950`s style post hug end up being used way too much by the cpu goalies as default moves,they conflict and I`ve seen exploit goals as a result of it because the goalies start going through about 3 different stances for no reason and by then they`ve been scored on.

    The NHL11 control scheme worked great,and it actually felt somewhat intuitive in how you could move and get into the different stances.....now it`s just plain borked.

    I`ve submitted an idea to rememdy this,made posts about this issue,.....very little,nay,...I say,.....I HAVEN`T SEEN ANY SUPPORT,REPLIES,....nothing!
    I can`t be the only goalie to see this is no good.

    And if they can give you the option of using NHL`94 controls, then they can do something about this.

    PS,....why do you get more EXP when you are forced to sim to the end of a game(quit) after playing the first 2 minutes,save one shot,let one in,.....and the final score is a win for you 8-1,...and you end up with a .995 sv%.
    I got 60 exp total,.....yet play a game and do great,.....8 exp total???? COME ON EA!

    Depressing,.....

    I`m sorry to be a douche about this,...but it`s no different than if the skaters fell over and laid on the ice every 3 strides they took.

    I`ll tell you right now,.....human goalies will be worse than ever,and the cpu goalies are exploitable with some certain plays that they shouldn`t be getting scored on at the rate that they go in right now.

    It`s not even worth trying to play BaP goalie,simple as that.

    I do have the solution,....that should be easy to code,...it`s posted all over the place here and across hell`s half acre......I`ll post it again too if I have to.

    Here`s another BaP goalie issue,....and I cerainly can`t be the only one to spot it.....2 words,.......fatigue meter.

      same boat brother......i gave up after two nights of trying bap goalie.......as a goalie myself its horrible, so i made myself a two way forward and im having a blast with it!!! i agree with you on the old style controls, they could make it so much more simple. and dont even get me started on the one timers....i know its coming and still cant get over quick enough for the stop. but thats my only gripe with this game is bap goalie.

        Here`s another one,....

        go into a BaP game,....and while the puck is in the other end,....go outside the paint and see what your range is in all the stances.....

        there`s a restrictive bubble there that`s too small,......it restricts you from getting too wide .....there should be some room there for a goalie to go too far and get out of position....

        Try this in a standing stance,...butterfly,and paddle down.

        Give us a bigger bubble.

        The other stuff I`m ranting about too.

        I`ve reduced the game version to holding left trigger and using the joystick,...............yippititdothefrankallday.

          Yeah. BaP goalie is very very very bad this year. Impossible to stop the CPU laser beam. I actually have done better online then offline. The 3rd period CPU comeback is just overwhelming for any human goalie to protect any lead.

          It seems to me that we are bound to our Statistic more then any other position. I have in the right position are the right moment but because I only have X% in glove low/high, I can't stop the puck. It's don't have that limitation in any other position.

          Last year , BaP Goalie was plague by receiving a very low number of shots. This year, they improved on that aspect but broke everything else.

            I`m not even concerned with stopping pucks at this point,....I`d just like to move properly like a real goalie.

            At least with NHL11 controls you could almost mimic human styles,....and the controls were somewhat intuitive for a real goalie.

            This control scheme is using a specialty technique as a bread and butter move,and the bread and butter move get`s thrown away essentially.

            You want to score a million goals,....do a tight wraparound to the goalie`s stick side,...but as you come around,delay the shot up high just inside the shortside post just a wee little bit...........and while the goalie fumbles through all the VH,1950`s post hug,butterfly fail knee lift/drop,.....there will be lots of holes and cheese coding for the puck to make it to the twine.

              Rogie...Rogie...Rogie...Where should I start!

              I know you have a vast experience as a goalie (I'm wondering if you're even the real Rogie) and you know pretty darn well what you're talking about.

              My first question would be : "What do you expect?" NHL 09 was the most playable year as a goalie for one reason, the goalie moved almost like he should overall. I don't say it was perfect, I don't say it didn't need fine tuning, but it was good.

              Last year, they put pads, glove and a blocker on a slinky and ask him to move like Tim Thomas. The result was near perfect. I can't recall how many times I saw a goalie swing the mit and the stick like Mr. Miaggy chasing flies!

              This year, I played just more than 10 games before getting sick with the way the goalie move and follow the puck. It's almost unplayable as long you accept giving 6-7 goals a game with 10 minutes period.

              I'm getting back to my first question. You expect a company that only work to make the online game works enough so people don't play offline. The problem with BaP are still there.

              EA said you will have to earn your shift in the game this year. They also promote the new "Sim to next shift". The first one is the worst lie I can recall from EA since even on a 3rd line and not doing a thing all game long, I still have my guy play around 22 to 25 minutes. I don't have to say that the simming is in a deep hole since when you Sim to next shift, there's almost no goals scored by the rest of the team on BaP. For 20 goals scored so far in my RW BaP, the other 3 lines have a nice combine 5 goals.

              If I say to you I'm not happy about something for 2-3 years and the only thing you do about it is close to nothing, what will you say?

              EA's way of working the offline stuff is pretty close to : "We don't give a f***".

              Note : Don't tell me they worked on the AI, etc, etc, etc. Most of the things they worked on was done since it was translating to make a better game for online modes.

                Yes,I hear that.

                The testing alone for BaP goalies seems like it was non-existent.

                I started to find things immediately.

                Also,the decision to completely bork the goalie controls and movement is insane and has gone completely the wrong way.

                Playing as a human goalie in ANY mode has been dumbed down to the level that it`s essentially like playing PONG Hockey,....WITH GOALIE FIGHTS!

                  LOL,..no,I`m a little younger than he......but he was a guy I styled my play after,....as I am small of stature like he is.

                  I am of the Hextall era,....I actually even in the same system at the same time he was.....both in Melville,Saskatchewan at the time. I even was his replacement for a game when he was injured,....a call up from the midget team,when he was playing in the SJHL w/ the Millionaires.

                  Our paths did not follow the same road,unfortunately.

                  I can still play though,.....I don`t know about him...LOL...He might be feeling older and rickety`er than I do.

                    The controls are the reason why I am just going to create myself as a goalie, and add myself to my BaGM.

                    I figure at least with a CPU playing as me I'll have a chance stopping shots....but I'm sure there will be plenty of "WTH are you doing?!" moments?

                      I played with the Sliders and bought the Boost pack. It's still very difficult to goal but it's more manageable now. My average went from .082 to .89-.92 stop %.

                        I have a video to post,...shows how the 1950`s style post hug is a bunch of cheese coding.

                        Shows the good and the bad.

                          Rogie brings up some interesting mechanical points. For some of you guys though, sliders are your friends. For starters, max out the Human Goalie Reaction. It's the only way to get legit results, especially if you're playing in the CHL since your attributes are so down the toilet.

                          Anyway, I acutally prefer VH to Paddle Down as the default post hug. Paddle Down as the default left so much top-shelf room it was an absolute joke; the CPU had to just carry the puck in behind, turn the corner and fire upstairs. Even if you let go of everything, your goaltender wouldn't unstick himself from the post and get up quick enough to stop the shot. With VH, I never have that problem, and it's a damn good feeling to see them try that and the puck to just hit my chest protector or mask if they don't whiff entirely. That being said, I do wish that as I was hugging the post, pressing down on the Right Stick would allow me to go Paddle Down. That would be ideal.

                            My idea of a modifier button (X) for when you hit LT+RT + X = toggles the control scheme from NHL12 to NHL11,you could be in VH,....then hit X and he switches to paddle down,hit X again,back into VH....it`s bloody perfect,that is...then everyone is happy,you can use one or the other,or use both at the same time using the modifier button,......everybody wins.



                            I`ll be making more videos about some things with the goalies,.....I have an example of the 1950`s post hug causing the cpu goalie to react late to a play,.....the computer fired him into the animation for no reason,and all it produced was a chees goal......thank MrCheese code writer.

                            I`ll post it tomorrow,with some other examples of things that need to be fixed,....like the size of the area that a goalie can move in while in his normal stances....outside the paint,...the total area,....another exploitable bit of coding,and a reason why the short side is vulnerable to a lot of people(so I have been reading)....and it isn`t necessarily because of juiced shooting accuracy....again...go test the full range the goalies have....it`s ridiculously small.....dumbed down so the rookies can`t slide out of position.......WEAK,LAME,and unacceptable.

                            I was in practice this morning,.....and was having lots of success just camped deep in the crease,sitting in butterfly,.....barely moving or doing anything but LT and joystick,....letting auto save to the heavy lifting.
                            The camping goalie`s wet dream.

                            It was horribly easy,.......whereas trying to play in a realistic manner was punished.

                            There`s like 5 or 6 bugs/glitches/issues with the human goalies/goalie controls.......fix those and I don`t think there is anything left in the offline part of the game......and everyone should be fixable in the patch,.....one is a fatigue meter stays on,the other is the paddle down leg twitch o death,

                            3rd is the getting up from butterfly to go back down into butterfly to go paddle down....what? Don`t believe me,....try it,then come back and say what was that?

                            4th is a bug with the puck going through the base of the post.

                            5th is the control scheme,.....
                            6th the heavy suction to posts when using LT+RT (change controls to have a modifier button,tune the suction)

                            That`s it......make us all happy.

                            I`ve passed this idea along through "channels"....but will it ever get to where it needs to in time for it to be considered for a patch,..who knows.

                            All I know is,it would work beautifully,and nobody would lose the abilities from either technique,...in fact I`m sure we`d become significantly better because of it..

                              The fundamental mechanics of BaP Goalie are broken from the core. I have played over 80 games offline in CHL, AHL and NHL with my created goalie. The sliders will not help you. I think over all the games I have played, I won less then 5 regardless of how I goal.

                              Let's start with the sliders. Only certain sliders will help you : CPU/Human Goalie. That's it. Everything else also effects your team. Which mean, if you slow down pass effectiveness, one timer accuracy, shot power and shot accuracy, then your time start to s*ck. So you have 2 choices, either it's a score fest and you can't maintain any GAA or Stop % or You keep losing 1 or 2 to 0. It's an impossible proposition. You will see that if you set the CPU Slapshot/Wrist shot power to 2 click from the left, you will be able to stop puck and it becomes manageable but then your team will stop scoring all together. They really play bad.

                              Solution :
                              1. Human Slider in BaP Goalie mode should affect the Human team not only your human control player.
                              2. Reduce the laser beam pinpoint accuracy of the opposite CPU team player.
                              3. Reduce their effectiveness to opposite cpu team find rebound in the slot. They have like laser eyes and always get to the rebound before you can even move or your defense can turn around.
                              4. CHL, AHL and NHL difficulty should be clearly define. In the current state, its all the same. It is punishing you really hard and keeps hitting you when you down.

                              That's all I have for now.
