Madden 12 has officially put away NFL 2K....

for me.......It's my first Madden game in.....I don't know remember how long?

It is a great testimony and I got to give all the props to Visual Concepts. They were truly ahead of their time. NFL 2K was a great feat with that technology. It was inevitable that EA would finally catch up and pass the now defunct VC and it only took Madden 2012 to do it (((rolling eyes))). It's not perfect and neither was NFL 2K, but I have to say, this game is just too fun and somewhat realistic. There are times on the screen where I feel like I am watching an actual broadcast during gameplay.

I was playing with the Colts (Manning as the QB, of course) EA captured Manning's throwing animation with perfection but can only be appreciated using the broadcast camera.
While the pocket was collapsing and about to swallow Manning almost disappearing, he throws a 40 yard TD strike down the left field side line to a WR that beat his DB and the ball dropped perfectly over his shoulder into his hands, not breaking any stride; the celebration was on! It was just absolutely stunning to watch!

P.S. The running game in broadcast camera is just absolutely an exquisite joy to operate and watch. bar none

I disagree. Madden 12 still has a ways to go in some respects, and putting NFL 2k away isn't saying anything because NFL 2k came out SEVEN YEARS AGO !

I agree that M12 > 2K, easily IMO, but I know there are going to be a gang of stubborn individuals that disagree.

I would say time put away 2K5 more than Madden 12, and by away I mean into the trophy case as one of the best sports games of all time. A trophy case that won't contain Madden 12.

2K hasn't been allowed to make a licensed NFL game in 7 years. So how can one company put away another company if one hasn't been making the same game in 7 years ?

HAHAHA this is laughable!!!

1) It sure hasn't passed NFL2k5 in presentation
2) It sure hasn't passed NFL2k5 in accurate penalties
3) It sure hasn't passed NFL2K5 in the challenge system
4) It sure hasn't passed NFL2k5 in fundamentals of football

What I give Madden is beautiful game. Everyone is entitled too there opinion, but before u can really look at Madden as surpassing NFL2K5, it has too be done as a whole and Madden isn't close yet.

That's ok if they lock it. I was just giving my own opinion of how much fun I am having with this game and just wanted to share my experience.

OP, glad you are enjoying the game, but this thread as predicted has turned into an EA vs. 2K thread in the Madden forums... which we do not allow. I'm not closing this, but moving it to the "Football Other" forum where you guys can debate Madden v. 2K all day long.

When I was playing defense in Madden 12. I almost always use the free safety and I got to say, I immensely enjoy watching the goings on in the trenches, watching the DL smashing into the OL. The animations are captivating, that at times I forget to play "D"

I must reiterate, it only can be appreciated from the broadcast camera. The broadcast camera turned this game around for me like night to day : )

I disagree, while Madden has improved and I'll say Madden 12 is the best next-gen Madden, I still think Madden has a ways to go to match 2K's gameplay and presentation.
