Tips on being a successful my player?
Hey whats up guy, new to the forums but was wondering if you guys could share any advice for being better at the my player mode. I'm a SF on the Phoenix Suns and its been difficult to do well. Also I spend much more time on the bench. I'm currently trying to upgrade my mid range jumpers as I always fumble the ball when trying to drive to the paint.Tags: None -
Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
It sounds stupid, but until you learn more about how the ai acts and responds, turn on play calling and run them.
Play conservatively, and run the training camps to learn the moves. Learn how to stay on your man in defense, even if he scores on you, as long as you see the "good defense" trigger, you are doing good. On defense, there is a sweet spot, where you can stay close enough to contest any shots, yet far enough away to prevent fouls and to be able to react.
Just like in 2k11, it has taken me about 10 games to get into a starting role.
Don't be afraid to try different types of SFs... I tried several before I decided that the All-Around style would be best for my first campaign.
Take time to find a Jump Shot and a Free-throw style that works with you. I thought Jerry West's Free Throw would be awesome to have, but boy I was wrong... I needed to change that to something that worked better for me.
I hope these things help.
Pointwise, I increased my Stamina and my Durability first, Clutch (both offense and defense) second, Consistency third, then Free-Throws and the Shoot in Traffic. Now I am working on the shooting tendencies getting them from poor to average to great (or whatever is the best). -

Ah ok, yea it seems once you're a starter you can make quite the impact. I've mainly spent my time trying not to mess up and give away points. I've also been upgrading my mid range jumper since thats the one shot I think I'm open for the most. Thanks for the help.Comment

Do you get to be a starter even if you are only rated a 61 or so, by meeting the objectives in your games? Or do you have to have a higher rating than the the guy starting in front of you?NCAA: Michigan Wolverines
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
NHL: St. Louis Blues

Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
Follow the plays.
Do not make bad decisions.
That's really it. The punishment for bad decisions is so severe, as long as you actually DO your job, and don't try to force stuff, you'll do fine.
I've gotten Top 10 draft picks with almost no stats at all, just being a good team player.
Neither matters. Go to My Minutes. Whenever your minutes are higher than the starter, you become starter.
Typically you get +2 minutes per game you play up to like 28 or 30, and then +1 minute per game.
If your starter has low minutes, you'll take over fast. If you start behind Kobe at SG, it might take a good while.Comment

Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
If you want a realistic game experience don't listen to what I have to say, but I end up with an A+ rating in the second quarter almost every game by playing this way. You get a large bump by getting a "successful double team" or a "smart double team," so I run around and guard whoever has the ball and call for a double team on every player. Occasionally it ends up in a tipped pass which gets you a bump and there seems to be a glitch in which anytime you tip a ball and your team gets a steal you get credit for the steal. Offensively I have turned plays off and I run around and set on ball screens and just roll to the basket and if there is a lane i call for an alley oop. I'm a 6-8 "athletic" shooting guard.Comment

Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
I'm a 6'9 "all around" SF that got drafted to Philly. I had run plays on at first, but was only averaging 7 points a game. 10 games in I turned that feature off and I'm getting a good 20 a game. Just set screens, make smart passes and take the open shot when you have one =-)Comment

The question "Why would you want to do this?" comes to mind...If you want a realistic game experience don't listen to what I have to say, but I end up with an A+ rating in the second quarter almost every game by playing this way. Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
I'm a 6'4 PG who's playing behind Nash and Brooks, so they always put me at SG, which is annoying. What's more annoying is playing with Brooks, that little bastard just jacks up awful shot left and right.
You'll want to boost your mid range game this year, find a good iso size up left and right to get yourself a bit of room and shoot away. Even if you miss you'll often get a "good shot selection" so long as you created enough space.Comment

Re: Tips on being a successful my player?
into my 2nd season with the warriors...and yea it can be frustrating to say the least!!!...i have pretty much figd this mode out......the game revolves heavily around working to find open shots for u and ur teammates....u gotta be super active in the half court offense....u need to be setting screens left right and center....off ball and on ball screens everywhere...some possessions i ill set lke 5 screens.....also.***n the plays..if u have a pg who dribbles the ball for 22seconds then launches a 3 he is waiting for u to get into position for the play..***n to the mark on the floor and trigger the play they are running...in halfcourt d...u need to find and get doubles as much as possible..if he dribbles tothe corner run over and double him but be redy to sprint off and get bak into def if he kicks it out....our help d is intense we are causing 10+ turnovers a game right now....stay on ur man at all cost on the ball....dont use triggers just be redy to get on the right trigger if he gets a step on u...u can still get bak in front of him..
obviously it helps to up ur traits....on ball defense ,def awareness,block,.....vertical is HUGE!!....vert at 99 now my guy is a beast in the perimeter offense...blocking jumpers at least a cpl a game now......
also in the halfcourt offfense pass the ball alot...move it around the perimeter the more touches ur ai get the better they will play...pass nd screens are key....once u start playin like this the game really opens up and u will see ur teammates making amazing plays all the time!!!!!..
get ur defensive traits up right away...get ur shooting in the 70's dont spend points on shooting...let the drills bump that up...defense is the key...once u start defending better ur team will play 10x better...its unreal!!!!Comment
