I hardly every use the 2-3 zone in previous 2k titiles cause previous versions's zone are really bad.... usually resulting on easy 3s for the cpu. But I got so frustrated at my teamates AI D this year using MAN that I actualy tried the 2-3 zone. I actually think its better than MAN this year! The zone make it really hard for the cpu to penetrate and pretty much never have that flaw where your teamate abandon their man at the 3pts line resulting in an easy 3 for cpu. Cpu can still hit some shots, but the D is much much tighter on zone than man. Its especially great against team with quick penetrating guards. If anyone is having trouble with man D, try the zone. (I play on All-star sim default).

I think it's cheese, one of the people I faced here who plays sim used it on defense and does not wish to use it against me in future matchups.
The problem is, the passing system is too poor. Passing in 2k12 consists of slow lobs, direct passing side to side isn't quick enough and it gets picked off by ninja skills from AI defenders. So what happens is, you have to beat the 2-3 zone with outside shooting, often the corners and elbow shots are effective in beating it but since you can't pass quick enough the defense recovers and more often than not you're taking a contested shot. -

Definitely agree with this. In 2k11 I could break the zone defenses down but in 12 they defenders are too quick on their feet. People online will literally bring the defender from the weakside over to the strong side and its difficult to skip the pass over to the open man on the weak side cause they just jump up and deflect it. Passing is so weak this year. It was slow in 11 and even slower in 12.

Iguodala, Holiday, Williams, Thaddeus all hit 3's for me (albeit they aren't a good 3 pt shooting team, so my percentage wasn't great and could have been more effective to beat this defensive strategy). However, once you get into the half court, it's real hard, especially because sometimes your AI teammates think independently of what you want. For example, at one point I saw Iguodala open cross court because of Fly's 2-3 zone, so I threw an overhead pass to Iguodala but he chose to suddenly cut to the basket for no apparent reason and the pass was picked off instead of going to him open at the 3 point line.Comment

Don't worry about it, I wasn't calling you out or anything that's why I wanted to keep it anonymous. I felt the defensive set itself is cheap, not what you did. It's completely fine to use it, and I actually wouldn't mind if you tried again next game. I think with a superior 3 point shooting team I might have had you. I played Turner in the first half and you eventually took a big lead with him in the game until I brought Lou in and climbed back.
I really just don't understand why Jason Richardson is jesus in this game, I've had multiple friends destroy me with him, and you're another person that just killed me with him. He shoots lights out, he can drive, he has handles, he's amazing on the fast break because of his dunks.. he plays like a 90+ player with much lower ratings.. this is not a complaint or anything I think you played brilliantly, I just hate Richardson in 2k.

I dont play much zone defense, but do come up against it alot in online games. I played with Dallas for the first time this year and went up against the Pacers. This guy I played must have been using either 2-3 zone or 1-3-1. I could tell he was either switching between the 2 or playing off-ball. probably both. It was a tough game because of his D. Every where I passed, 4 defenders where instanly around my man. I was praying not to get the floaty pass animations. My 3 pt shooting and pushing the ball up court barely saved me.Comment
