So I have a 17 year old Brazilian CB in my youth academy. Had him for a year and a half or so. He is currently rated 70-74 and is projected to be 84-90. So obviously, I want to sign him. I have tried everything, and he keeps wanting higher wages. I offered him £115,000 a week and a 20% clean sheet bonus, and he still said he wanted higher wages...

Reason this makes me nervous is because I just had two youth academy players who wanted a contract or they were gonna leave. I offered them the suggested amount, they wanted higher wages. So I bumped it up. Next thing I know, they leave the academy. I DON'T WANT TO LOSE PLAYERS OVER A GLITCH.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I experienced this as well. Looks like you need to sign them before the January transfer window. For whatever reason, they decline all contracts after Jan 1.

I did all of this at the beginning of the season. So that can't be it...

Had that happen to me with a player. He wouldn't sign no matter the price so I left him in the academy.

Then during the next season I offered him a reasonable amount and he accepted even so it was like 10 000 euros less than what I offered in the last season.

Yikes, I don't like hearing this....

I can say that I have signed players out of my youth academy both before and after Jan. 1, so there may not be any pattern to it.

YES! Good news, and no need to worry! It came time, and the two players I tried to sign last season finally gave the "I want a contract or I'm out" demand. Offered them both the suggested amount (£1000-5000) and they both accepted. Even though one of them came with a £100,000 signing on fee...

I've been fighting this for about 3 years on my Exeter dynasty. Glad to hear there's a workaround...

I've noticed this when the player wants a 4 year contract....but you can only offer a 3 year contract. It doesn't matter the amount you offer he won't take it.

Hope to see this fixed asap.

I haven't had many issues when it comes to signing players from the academy. The one time I've had a player decline I offered him what my board recommended (500-ish) & he wanted 2000 or so, I wound up going back & forth & settling on 1400 when his final demand was 1600. The one issue I'm having at the moment is loaning players out once they are signed since they won't break in straight away, no one seems to want them, it's almost as hard as trying to sell Diaby.
