    Passing - finding the balance??

So I'm sure i'm not the first to question how to find the right passing in this game and I probably won't be the last. You guys have done me right with every question I've had so far so I'm throwing out one more.

    How to make passing work?

Here's my big beef with the passing. Outlet passes. I've got a huge wide lane with a player lined up ready for a simple hard outlet pass and the puck goes right by him. 4-5 feet away and slides into the opposing zone.

OR a guy in the high slot all alone, quick short pass.... right by him and back to the unintended target the point.

This is new to me. I've always found passing pretty easy and can't figure out what's up.

I have manual passing on. Pass assist is at 3 I believe and I think my Human Pass Accuracy is also at 3. CPU is lower because they have no problem in the 80-85% range. I'm usually 60-70%.

    Any help!?!

thats problem with there rosters they jack the cpu up and cpu passing percentages is higher
and another thing i noticed : 11 minutes and 13 minutes have tougher goalies
    goalie consistenty : 1 is win 1 and loose 1 , 0 is 3 wins and 1 loss

I may be alone on this but I find scoring a bit hard. If I put 3 in I'm feeling pretty good. 4+ are RARE. Most games are ending 2-1-ish

          Raise the pass assist slider.

            From my experience

Pass assist - 2 - To many easy passes missed, Its easier to make a long pass than it is to make a dman to dman pass or short pass that should be easy.

I prefer pass assist at 3, The long passes are hard but if i come from behind the net and try to hit the point man it doesnt end up down the other end of the ice. Dman to dman passing is also easier.

There can be times when the passing can feel pretty random so i think at pass assist 3 it gives you about 75% accuracy without feeling like you never miss a pass.

i roll pass accuracy at 0 and pass assist at 3

i know eh i remember that when i first got NHL 12 i put it at: 3 and pass accuracy: 0/0 i was like wow my players are actually able to one timer it
but that was before roster updates and tuners when the cpu was so hard and scoring like gods on ice

Guys, if you read below when you come to the Pass Accuracy slider it says:
Adjusting this will affect how game circumstances and attributes of the player influence a successful pass.
So it wouldn't it make more sense to have this up? Someone pointed this out already and I've defintately noticed more of a difference. It's not a huge difference or anything, but it's there.

Could that be the Passing equivalent to the Attribute Slider?

I noticed the Game Circumstances bit last week and was going to post didn't bother.

By Game Circumstances i take that as when the cpu pressure is on the user players suddenly cant make the easiest of passes because the cpu suddenly decides to screw you over.

I have noticed that if the cpu has a bit of pressure and you try to pass to a winger a lot of the time the pass will be missed and it will go for an icing.

Yep Ranger, I also have the pass assist at 3 and acc at 0. For the reasons you mentioned.

This setup does seem to give me a good balance with my passing.

I've been wondering the same thing about the pass accuracy slider based on the game's odd description of what the slider does.

I've been playing with pass accuracy on zero for both the CPU and I. Last night I tested the theory by playing a game with pass accuracy maxed for both myself and the AI. The results were that both teams saw an increase of roughly 10% in pass percentage. FYI the AI (the Devils in this case) finished with a pass percentage of 87%.

I think it's safe to say that the description for this slider is simply poorly written and that the slider functions as most would intuitively suspect. With a lower setting, you see less accurate passes.

                          This is an accurate statement.

pass assist at 2 (user) hasn't let me see a game in which I passed above 61%. The cpu is never below 82%.

Raising pass assist to 3 then creates a game where it's just no fun - everything is tape to tape. bottom line: this game cannot be played with simulation-like hockey in mind.

am pretty much fine with pass assist: 5 and pass accuracy: 2/2
