    Skills help

Ive been playing this kid a lot on my floor lately. I usually lose to him, and it's starting to piss me off. On defense it seems he just spams the circle button and takes advantage of the questionable foul system. It's hard to get an attack going. Any tips?

I've run in to to this a lot on UT online, so I'll give my strategy against high pressure teams.

Play with a team with more pace, increase the attacking nature of the team (right on the d-pad) and use the Left bumper on the Xbox (not sure on PS3) liberally to make runs as you pass so the player moves in to space. The idea is if the opponent is playing high pressure/fouling, you want to pass before the defender reaches you, then pass back on to your player's run. Don't be afraid to pass back to the defenders in order to retain possession.

Once you're in front of his challenges (passing before he gets to you), he'll get frantic and sprint harder to try and tackle. Continue to pass away, and eventually you'll be looking at a wide open box because he'll be pulling his last defender towards you. Just beware the evil offsides flag and you'll get in on goal with the extra pass.

Hope that helps. There are far better players on this board that may weigh in.

      Re: Skills help

Easily the most annoying style for me to play against online. However, I tend to do well in these games because there is a lot more risk when people play that style compared to a more standard D. I may only get 2 or 3 shots on goal the whole game, but they are usually pretty good looks after the opponent's is caught on a good run.

Like Natural said, just keep passing the ball. The better players will catch on and lay off of the pressure and start playing the passing lanes at some point, but it sounds like that is what you want. If he keeps pressing even when you are immediately passing the ball upon receiving, you should be able to catch him out of position a few times for an open look. You basically should be making your decision about where to pass before the ball arrives, always be looking a step ahead

i agree this is my strategy as well. i just play defensive and counter attack, use through balls and skill moves to break the game open once he over commits to attacking.
