    Computer (almost) never takes penalties

When we play the computer almost never takes any penalties. We have (playing teammates) played 12 games and have a total of 4 powerplays, but have been shorthanded 26 times. Is my settings screwed up or is this a bug?
My settings are like this for NHL12, Playstation 3.
If there are other settings that affect cpu pim please ask for settings and I'll post as needed.

    Rules
Penalties, bar set in the middle. I have tested having this to maximum but all we do is take more penalties, not the computer.

    Gameplay/Basic
    All-Star
    Current

    Gameplay/General
    Tuner: Latest
    CPU Aid: Hardcore

    Gameplay/AI
CPU Penalties: Bar set full maximum (all the way to the right)
CPI Teammates Penalties: Two taps from minimum
    Gameplay/Checking
Agression CPU: Two taps from maximum

put the teammate penalties at : 6 & stick lift effectiveness & poke effectiveness: 4/4 and set post whistle rules: authentic & Aggression: 6/6
try that and baite the CPU in too getting a penalty

Didn't work.... I played two games with this set-up last night and had 2 PP's in the first game and 1 PP in the second, and all three penalties against the computer was because the goalie played the puck beyond the trapezoid... I did a "cycling" exhibition and held the puck from 13:56 in the 2nd period, to 7:30 of the 2nd period, over 6 minutes, never did I draw a penalty, and I was "baiting" them... I can't believe I have to try to "bait" someone though.

BTW, I did not have ANY PIM's... I was crushing guys, hitting before the puck came, hooking, slashing, ramming goalie after the whistle, nothing was working... I play ALL-Star, after whistle authentic, 10 min periods as of last night... I had one game where I had 29:34 of attack time... Just too ridiculous... EA really F'd up a good game from the past two years with what they gave us this year and penalties are MY only gripe...
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

Agreed. Despite its many flaws I have found settings that make this game playable and fun, but I cannot get motivated to play a season because of the penalty issue.....its only one thing, but its so big. Maybe I'm dumb, but this should be such an easy patch fix for them to do. I'm not holding my breath.

Same for me, still almost no pims
Sliders is not the solution, tested "theLanky's realistic sliders" and that did nothing, even maxed those out and nothing.

Let's just face it, the game is broken when it comes to playing the computer and getting some powerplays.

Re: Computer (almost) never takes penalties

I'm sorry Blackeyes, while I respect and enjoy many of your posts, this one I have to disagree with... Trying to "bait" the cpu isn't hockey, it is running around like a chicken with their head cut off, hoping to have the cpu draw a penalty. Can't say I have seen too many hockey teams do this. Sure I have seen cycling and at times more than a minute of cycling on one possession, but that is so few and far between, I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have seen it since 1987 when I started watching hockey and have seen probably 250 live games and 1500 televised since that time..

I think everyone, including EA just needs to agree that the penalties are screwed up. Personally, I liked when TOO MANY penalties were called, it forced me to play a different style, more like the team I use, and I would get 2-4 PIM's called against me a game, and get 4-9 PP's per game (9 being an extreme, but I saw it a couple of times) Those were more realistic NHL numbers... Now, you may get 1-2 PP's a game combined per team, which isn't close to the NHL average of 9 per both teams... They need to go back to when people complained their were too many, leave it that way and stop listening to idiots who say there are too many, because all they did was stick lift down the ice, sure you are going to get called... The devs seem to side with the exploiters, it is our turn, those that want a NHL simulation, not a free for all!!!

its only way to get them penalties seems to be working for me ^_^
don't need to disagree or be nasty about it (just trying to help you)
on my sliders i was able to crack open the egg of winning at CPU arena then win at my arena
i was able to go : 4-1 so far personal playing style sliders on Tuner 1.02c and roster update: 5

No bro, not being nasty, just trying to make people see that if you have to manipulate the game in a way that isn't natural (granted cycling, I can do that, but not for multiple minutes in hopes that they take a penalty) that the game, the sliders, are broken...

I took your suggestions and tried them, I didn't see an increase in the normal penalties, but did get a few of delay of games more than I would have normally seen. Not sure why that one made its appearance multiple times in a game, but it did...

I appreciate the help you do, the slider settings you give out, all of that. I appreciate you offering the suggestion, but, and this isn't you or your fault, it is EA's, so don't take my next statement as a knock on you... I think it is RIDICULOUS that you have to bait the team and play a different style game just to hope to draw a penalty... That isn't Blackeye's fault, he found a glitch apparently in the system that works for him, but it hasn't for me, because I don't like having unrealistic shot totals of 18-12 just to draw penalty's by having 10-15 minutes attack time trying to bait the cpu... I blame EA for that, it is broken...

As for penalty sliders... GARBAGE!!! The need to individual every penalty (as they do in madden) and give sliders for hooking, slashing, tripping, interference, etc...

and its always last roster that might be the next step in too NHL 13 continuation am just peranoid
                        i dunno though o_o
