    Front Page Sports FBPro 98

    I recently broke out FBPro 98 and at first everything seemed ok. I was able to go into the game, play a quick match and what not. Still a great game and it brought back a lot of memories.

    But when I went to create my own league it locked up and gave me an error. Now everytime I try to load it gives me a shell error.

    I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. I did see where someone suggested running it using something like VMWare. I looked at the VMware website, not so sure i understand how to use it.

    Anyone that can help me on this? Either to get FBPro to work or to work vmware or something similar?

      Ok It happened to me.. I found out That when You make a New league DONT change the title.. Dont make it lets say The NFL LEague or in my Case Phils NFL League... Just leave it as it is...

          Well I am wanting to create multiple leagues. But besides that, how did you ever get it to load again? It wont load for me now, I keep getting a league creation error.

              You can only do one league at a time.. Now to start over, Just get out of the game altogether and then click on it again and start a new league but remember when it asks what do you want to name your new league,, just leave it as it says "NewLeague"

                  You do not understand. When I try to load the game, before it ever even makes the intro screen I get an error now about a league not loading. I cant even load the game at all.

                  Also, in the past, on old machines with older versions of windows I generally had 10 to 12 leagues at once. I figure if there is a work around with Windows 7, it should work as well.

                          Well thanks for trying to help anyway. If anyone else knows a way around this and a way I can use win 7 to play the game, please let me know.

                          I have tried dosbox, says game can not be run in dos. I have tried WIN XP virtual machine and it just eats up my system resources and doesnt allow me to do anything.

                              Well last night I installed mine fine and downloaded a 83-94 (i think that was the years) league. Man it brought back memories. My(91Redskins) first game is vs the 87 Redskins. Lol
                              Anyways I mainly did play edits and some practice games getting the CAMS the way I wanted.
                              Really miss not being able to print rosters and stats in these console days
                              Only thing I'm having problems doing is running the 1.08 patch. It just wont run.

                                  Stange the patch wont run.. ? DO you have the GNFL profiles and playbooks? or the Vpnfl teams? You know, if the passing game was more real 98 would be the only game I would play.. Still its one of the top 3 games...

                                      Nope not yet. Before I knew it, it was 3am lol
                                      Had to get some sleep. The patch Error was to do with running a 64 system and not 32.
                                      I'll be looking for a fix.

                                              The 1.08 patch will not run properly in Win7 64-bit. Here is a work around:
                                              Copy the entire FPro'98 directory onto a usb drive, place it on an XP machine (or '98), patch it there, then copy it back over to your Windows 7 machine...

                                              Or

                                              Create/run a Windows XP Virtual Machine within your Windows 7 system. Copy the FBPro'98 directory over there, patch it, then transfer it back.

                                                  Sure would be Great if we could use a hex editor or crack the code to change the grafics.. 98 has it all except the grafics and ofcourse a upgrade for the ONFIELD gameplay.. But Man the things You can do with it and I LOVE the GNFL Profiles and Playbooks and ofcourse the Greatest teams from VNFL..
