The trade that CHANGED your franchise

Post any kind of trade that you've done that had really built success on your team. So far my favorite would be trading away Chad Henne from the phins for Rob Housler and a 3rd round pick to the Cards. It might not seem like much but Rob Housler has solidified my tight end spot and gave me a huge threat down the middle! He has also made Brian Hartline's lackluster performances look non existent week in and week out. For the 3rd round pick I will most likely try and draft B.J Cunningham from MSU to take over for Hartline, or possibly Joel Forman depending if his draft stock will stay at 1st round or fall back...

So, what has been your favorite trade that changed your entire team?

Oh btw... This trade also enabled T.J Yates the starting job at qb, so far he has been great and surprisingly accurate. 65.3% through the first 7 weeks.

Re: The trade that CHANGED your franchise

Traded a 92 OVR HB I drafted that sat behind Hillis to the Cardinals for 1st and 2nd Rd picks in future draft. Those picks ended up being franchise players. I just wish trading in this game wasn't so crappy as far as realism.

This vid covers it pretty well... A bad exploit that I am willing to be we all have kinda used or at least NOTICED at some point or another.

I always offer super high value trades just to avoid this issue. lol

I traded Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson in separate deals for picks and others.

I traded Bradford(91ish ovr at the time) for the 1st pick of a draft and drafted Luck.

I'm about to trade Maurice Jones-Drew at the end of this season to a needy team for a 2012 1st Round Pick, 2012 2nd Round Pick and conditional 2013 1st Round Pick if they make the playoffs because of him having a great season.

        Anyone think this is unfair?

In an online franchise during the draft I made these trades

I had the 31st pick in the draft. Packers owner needed a 2nd round pick and offered his 4-7 picks as well as next years 3rd for my 2nd round pick. I did that.

Then I flipped next years 1st and my two 3rds for Jammal Charles....I am the Falcons. I now have Julio, Turner, Charles, White, Gonzalez and Branch on my offense....it is deadly

Re: The trade that CHANGED your franchise

I sent a first (2012) and third (2012) rounder and RB Daniel Thomas to the Titans for RB Chris Johnson and then signed Jared Cook Jr in free agency. Johnson and Cook had expiring contracts and in doing my random number method for deciding if a player resigns or tests FA (32 team control) Johnson was going to walk as did Cook. So I worked out a realistic trade for both teams. And I was able to bid for Cook who is a beast.

My offense has gone to a new level. I was able to also draft a franchise QB (Nick Young) with "A" potential to toss the rock in the 4th round.

Year one I went 9-7 and lost the AFC title game to KC

Year two I fell to 7-9 and needed to make some drastic moves and hence here we are in year 3 looking to explode to a Super Bowl berth!

I traded Fred Jackson to the Bucs for Mike Williams and their second round pick. With that 2nd round pick I took a 82 OVR A potential QB who started as a rookie, and won the super bowl.

Re: The trade that CHANGED your franchise

I paid a lot (1st, next year 1st, and talented young player) to a team I thought would be in the top 3 I wanted a top-tier CB in my Tampa Franchise. Scouting comes and goes and I have my target, a top prospect CB for sure.

That team finished #6, but I still got my guy - a total lockdown CB. High AWR, SPD, ACC, AGI, and coverage ratings. CPU almost never throws it his way. He's like my Revis. He was even good on punt returns, but I pulled him out of that duty after a few injury scares.

The other was a giving up a 1st and a good looking kid at WR that I drafted for a MLB who was a high 2nd round pick, but I needed a MLB badly. That MLB is by far the anchor of my defense. 140-160 tackles, able to pass rush and play decent coverage. He'd have more picks if he wasn't Conservative.

Trading away Antoine Winfield and switching some picks in my Vikings franchise to trade up from 15 to 5 to get my rookie shutdown CB, 99 Speed, A potential, that guy is sick, has yet to give up a completion beyond 20 yards after 6 games. Gave up a lot to get him, but he's definitely worth every bit.
You gotta have Hope! (My Minnesota Vikings franchise)

After an incredible 2012 season ends with a Super Bowl win, Hope Turner and her Vikings are trying to prove that their performance was more than just a one-shot.

I way over paid for Vincent Jackson. I traded Forte two 1sts and a 3rd for Jackson and a 5th. It was worth it though because now Cutler has a legit #1 receiver. Jackson finished with 1600 yards and 14 touchdowns.

You don't neccessarily 'do' them. You make a rule for the conditional pick and if it happens, you trade that pick to that team or have that team trade the pick to you.

During week 4 of the season I traded Rivers to the Bucs for Freeman and their 2013 1st and 3rd round pick. I chose Freeman because he is still developing and won't be my long term answer. I plan on drafting a rookie QB to take over and develop with the other young players on the offense.

Off Topic: I also plan on getting younger corners and linebackers that can stay healthy. Jammer, Cason, and Mathis are just too slow. (Picked up Rashean Mathis during the off-season if your wondering.) I have an awesome rookie SS in McFarland, which balances the safety positions. Takes stress off of FS Weddle!

Traded Tebow to the bills for a 4th round pick and with it drafted a beast Middle linebacker who doesnt miss tackles and when I blitz him its almost an automatic tackle for loss or sack. If he doesn't get it then Von does.

Signed Matt Flynn as QB and 2-0 so far
