How do you stop Michael Vick?
I've tried everything. I've found that there's no way to stop a player who chooses to scramble with the QB on every drop back. Spies don't work. The player will simply step up in the pocket and wait for the defender to run into the offensive line. And the players move so erratically on this game it's hard to make a tackle when they zig zag across the field.

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
Spies work just fine, simply control the player yourself. If you don't want to do that you can spy two players or use containment defenses and/or rush the A-gap to insure he can't EVER scramble up the middle. If you contain to the outside and have decent A-gap pressure Vick shouldn't be a problem.
Don't forget players aren't really "fast" anymore - you can chase down Vick with just about anyone - so if you keep him relatively contained he won't do anything.
His release is also very slow, along with mediocre accuracy so if he isn't scrambling he is not very good. -
Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
What are you running. If you run 4 down linemen then running a spy and making your ends contain or edge rush.
If you are running three down linemen, blitz a fourth guy, and put someone else in a spy.
I have never had a Mike Vick player run on me using this.
I usually run a cover three, edge rush, change a hook zone to a spy and control the other hook zone and cover the middle routes. Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
Depends what formation the opponent is in and how they run vick. (Or tebow) If that is their entire game then you can predict how they're gonna run.
If he always scrambles to his throwing arm side, blitz the corner/slot to that side and spy the opposite end, Always use zone behind it. If the CPU cant run the Spy properly, control the Spying player and hunt vick. Dont over pursue, you're in zone so you have help coming from the flat defender.
If you lack the skill to chase vick with the spying player (Im not saying you do, I sometimes struggle) then wait for him to commit to a side and then start sprinting to that side towards the sideline(not into the backfield) to get the angle on him, once you're a little bit closer press (B) and allow the CPU to take over. He'll make the tackle, or slow him down enough for you to bring the next closest defender in.
In my online fantasy draft franchise i run the 43. I never run the base 43, always the OVER so that I have a LB over the TE. One of the guys in my franch uses Tebow and scrambles alot. He scrambles by beginning to roll out and then dumps the ball off if he sucks any defenders in. The key is to never break off assignments to go get Vick. IF you're controlling a zone player, stick with the zone until he crosses the line. IF you're controlling a blitzing/spying player, chances are the flat defender will make him cut back and you will come steaming in from the tackle box and clean him out.Comment

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
Make your D-line crash in, that way he can't run up the middle. Once the middle is taken away, the QB Spy should be able to contain him relatively easily. Since your MLB is usually the spy, put a fast LB in his place if he's slow. Or just assign someone faster to be the spy.
If that doesn't work, just blitz him from different angles on every play. Don't make it easy for him. Is this person passing the ball at all or just scrambling on every play? Bring a safety or CB blitz every once in a while from the side he might roll out to. Basically, my strategy would be to attack him. If that doesn't work (and it usually does), then try confusing him with different looks: 4-3, 3-3-5, 4-6, Dime, put a CB in QB spy or an OLB.Comment

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
I use a spy and it works fine. It doesn't stop them completely because thats just not possible even in real life. But it WILL slow them down in the game and stop them from constantly running for huge gains.
When I play Vick or Cam or Tebow, I will switch up my spies depending on the plays I call. I've used corners, safeties, linebackers, and even defensive ends.Comment

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
Its easy to get Vick rattled to wear his passes are really inaccurate. So its important to get pressure early and sack him. Blitzing will be easy after that as he won't be able to complete a lot of mid to deep passes. Usually I have the DE zone to the sidelines and spy the mlb. Force him to pass deeper.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: How do you stop Michael Vick?
I used to use Vick and the Eagles from time to time in M11 when I wasn't using my 49ers or Patriots. I had a lot of fun running the NE playbook with Vick. Lots of interesting short passing plays like Brady throws with some deep options to Jackson.
It was really fun to watch players on defense start the game running spies and containment as I pick them apart in the short and mid range passing game Brady style. Then, as they began to adjust and saw I wasn't even trying to run with Vick... I would take off. One game I only ran three times, each for a 40+ yard TD.
To stop Vick, I say you should first try and just play lots of zone blitzes. Try to user control a player on the opposite side that you are sending pressure. Let the AI try and blitz him while you user contain/cover the "weak side." That should flush him to you and it's up to you to make the play. Also, mix up your zone blitz coverages and remember to flip plays to give different looks.
You may have to accept that you can't really stop it. You just have to try and score with them. Eat the clock. Limit his possessions. Try to force that one crucial mistake to turn the game in your favor. A simple tempo trick is to defer the opening kick off. You want to try and have the last drive of the first half and then get the ball right back after halftime. That can really change the tempo of the game. You don't have to win by 21. You only have to win by 1.Comment

To the OP, read this: De-Scrambling the Quarterback
The key is to stay away from the most popular base defenses... I like to use one more DB than I normally would just to have the added speed. I also like to use different players to watch the QB as the game goes on. Practically everyone will eyeball him at least once.
hope this helps,
