Cool!
But these kind of actions worked way better when we didn't have the internet. Then you really had to go buy it or watch it at a friends house, now it'll probably be on youtube the very next day.Last edited by LastActionHero; 01-06-2012, 08:23 AM."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

As far as I can remember SCEA always uses new footage in their trailers. Now it may be from a relatively old build of the game, but still I'm sure it'll be MLB 12 the show footage."Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Re: Exclusive trailer of MLB 12 The Show with Money Ball Blu-Ray?
I bet you'll still watch it. Can you really criticize a a game for slowly releasing info all the way UP TO the release date? Why do people think they deserve all the info right away? Im looking forward to it, things are always found in these things that give just a little more info and prompt questions that devs reveal and confirm. The constant complaining and "commenting for the sake of commenting" like this one just frustrates everyone else.
Im starting to get pessimistic like Knight and co. about what devs will choose to share going forward. It would be one helluva winter when we get the fact sheet on march first and game released the week after. I am at the point where I cringe at new dev posts and reviews because it turns into everything but the details released and all about what "isn't" in the game or whats perceived as not being in only because it wasnt confirmed in the latest info.
Also I kinda want to see Moneyball again, i read the book a bit beofre the movie started filming and really enjoyed both. Found the movie a bit slow in pace (not a bad thing) and it really seemed like a movie about watching a guy struggle with decisions, reflecting and really about establishing a way to make decisions. Looking forward to seeing both.Last edited by MLB Bob; 01-07-2012, 01:58 PM.Comment

Re: Exclusive trailer of MLB 12 The Show with Money Ball Blu-Ray?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have yet to see this game in motion, right? At least the trailer will give us that.
I'm not that much of a fan of trailers anymore though, at least not game trailers. They show in-game footage, but it's not gameplay footage, if that makes sense. I'd rather see and hear what I will see and hear exactly when I play, as opposed to some fabricated cinematic sequence. That's not to say they don't give off any sort of artistic flair that is still just as wonderful, but it's kind of difficult to see what you're getting into at times when it's not shown how you will play it.
Either way, if, when I get the movie the trailer still hasn't been leaked online, I'll give you all a camcorder version of it. It won't be the best quality, but it should tide you over until it's officially released.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Exclusive trailer of MLB 12 The Show with Money Ball Blu-Ray?
I just said they use in-game footage.
EDIT: Let me clarify...
Since the game did not make a fantastic graphical leap of any kind (except maybe in the animations and faces department), a trailer like this could be released, and based on the in-game footage alone, it would be difficult to be able to determine not only what's new and improved, but which game it's even from. The other big reason is because the audio in this trailer is also not from the game, but rather from MLB playoff audio samples.
Whereas, if they released a trailer comprised of gameplay footage like this, even in montage form, at least we'd be offered the same sights and sounds (camera angles, HUD interface and graphic overlays, new sound effects and crowds, etc.) that we get when we play the game, that way we can truly experience all of the differences for ourselves.
So, if we get this trailer and it "seems the same" as last year's game, nobody is at fault for that... that's just the nature of game trailers. Of course, I'm sure we'll be seeing many new animations, so there is still something to be totally excited over!Last edited by Blzer; 01-07-2012, 03:47 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Well, I think it's important to remember that a trailer is merely an advertising tool. It's not meant to be a tool for evaluation, so of course it would fall short in that regard.Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have yet to see this game in motion, right? At least the trailer will give us that.

I see your point though as, for most of us, we know what we're getting into and are excited to evaluate what's new and improved , which is where true game play videos (or even montage trailers like you mentioned) are more "valuable" in a sense. Still, we'll get our game play videos soon enough...the trailer will be a nice teaser while we wait.
Personally, I've vowed to myself that I will avoid game play videos and the demo (if there is one) this year. I spend so much time playing the game each year (and for so many years, at that) that I think it will be nice to surprise myself a bit with how all the new features come together.Comment

Re: Exclusive trailer of MLB 12 The Show with Money Ball Blu-Ray?
Yeah, I'm going to try and avoid the demo myself. All I was saying about the trailer was, if somebody comes in here and says not much looks different, it's because of the nature of video game trailers that The Show might not be able to sell to you what its biggest differences are. So in a way, I was just trying to be precautionary for others here. I am personally stoked for this trailer!Well, I think it's important to remember that a trailer is merely an advertising tool. Re: Exclusive trailer of MLB 12 The Show with Money Ball Blu-Ray?
ok, misunderstood you.
when you said in-game footage, compared to trailer footage with cinematic sequences...I thought you were lumping MLB The Show with other games that have trailers that make the game look better than it is "in-game". Like say replay footage in racing games like Forza, or cut-scene footage that uses the game engine like Halo...or the Uncharted Series.Comment
