Why are team records so tightly bunched together?

I don't remember this happening in older editions. Teams all tend to be 10-6 11-5 at best. Is this because the cpu has the same edge making it impossible for any team to win 13+ games? What can be done to prevent this happening in next years game?

Have the same problem, I hate that 10-6 could possibly win home field advantage

The issue to me is the inflated ratings. With progression and draftees coming in at high ratings, the gap is closed across the board fairly quickly.

Just my observations and analysis.

So far all my second year linemen have been above 85 and closer to the 80s or 90s.

I've had some teams in my TB franchise win 12-14 games.

Usually it's a couple teams, which is generally within the realm of reality (2-3 teams accomplish it).

I agree that the rating scale helps cause it. It's the kind of parity Goodell would die for.

That said, I see some real stinkers in my franchises so I guess it's mostly the good teams beating on each other, while some teams are just fodder.

Ive had a CPU-controlled 84 OVR Bears have a 15-1 season and make it to the NFC Championship game.

One problem I think is that home field advantage is very, very strong for simmed games, the home team wins much more often even if it's significantly worse than the away team, so that leads to pretty even records.
