What kind of franichse mode player are you?

Sometimes I feel like I am the only person who plays franchise like I do lol. I like to play lets say at most the first eight games of the season and sim the rest. I also get extra motivation to play games where my former players are now my opponent. Most of all I enjoy the business side of the game. I love to Scout new players, free agency, and just get my team to tip top shape then win like its nothing. That would explain why I've finished one whole 30 year franchise mode, I had relocated the team and all. I really love the business side of the game, and then the playoffs if I make it.

I refuse to sit and play 16 games lol, last time I even came close to that was in madden 08 when I first had a PS3 (I now play xbox 360). I remember I had the Steelers and I was 14-0 5:00 Q's.

The biggest reason why I dont play all games is because I play 12min quarters with the acc. clock for realistic stats. On top of that I dont want to always have great records, I manage to barely ever lose against the CPU. (I looked up/fixed the sliders for better play)

But how do you guys manage your franchise modes?

My greatest franchise weakness is off-season. Sometimes I think I enjoy off-season more than the games. I usually play a game, sim a game, etc. I actually play more games in NCAA than I do Madden. But I just have this thing where I want to see my rookies progress, and I want to draft new rookies.

Thats cool. Yeah I love when I see my big money first round pick succeed!

I echo a lot Broncos' sentiments. I love off season stuff and trying to draft and develop the team and not use FAs (mostly because I'm cheap lol). I do play out all my games and use 12 min. quarters.

I always want to use my rookies, especially if they look to have a lot of promise or have an interesting skill set. I'll put them out there and see how they do. I also like mixing personnel or trying guys in new responsibilities or trying a whole different scheme and noting how everyone performs, especially against teams we just can't beat for some reason or after a losing streak/run of poor play from one unit or position group.

A 24/7 one. Though when I do one for fun, GM Mode is my style. I let the chips fall where they may and handle all the team-assembling duties.

Previously, I would play all 16 games for my team.

Then I read from another OSer the enjoyment he got out of playing 8 or so games, and simming the other 8. I think he primarily used this strategy b/c he was struggling to lose against the CPU. Simming some games gave the CPU a better shot to steal some W's.

Plus, it makes awareness still have some relevance for the user. I'd still want to have a 'smart' QB and smart players b/c I know a significant portion of the season will be simmed and thus awareness will be accounted for in the sim engine.

I normally sim about 4-6 games, and then 2 other games I'll probably play as the opposing team to get a feel for what it's like to play against the team I've put together.

Even on the weeks that I sim, I most times will still play a random game. I don't like moving through seasons too fast.

I wish I was able to enjoy each season more. Sometimes I go through 8-9 a night.

I try really hard to place emphasis on each season but I just have so much trouble. I think my problem is that I want to see an evolution. I've had teams where my entire roster is more or less set and I stare at the new draft class thinking "what position should I even draft?"

NCAA, every year is something new. A new QB, a new RB, etc. I can place more emphasis on each game because just one loss can bust a season. I can say "THIS season is for my senior QB, who could break the NCAA record." Just stuff like that. I have trouble doing that in Madden.

So yeah, if I'm left unchecked, I can easily pound through seasons in one sitting. I just love the management of the team so much in Madden.

Re: What kind of franichse mode player are you?

I play every game of the season. The sliders I have on All-Madden make the game challenging for me. Being tied in the 4th quarter at 27 with only 5 on the clock is what makes this game so much fun. I also want full control over my team's stats. I am a big stats guy so I don't like the CPU sim messing anything up.

Sure I like the off-season a lot, but I also really enjoy the regular season. Close games, scouting, and trading make it all fun for me. Trading is a large part, sure my style of trading may not be realistic though. I turn off the trade deadline, trade off older players for picks. Most of the time, through trading, I end up with about 10 picks in rounds 1-5. I like trading out the players that had been good for me for a couple years, to open up a space for another player to step in and be the man. I am the Rams, I traded Bradford for Luck and Steven Jackson for some more picks.

NCAA though, I really enjoy the recruiting system, so I sim almost all the games except for big ones. Recruiting is basically like a season long off season.

I am in season 6ish of my franchise, and have played at least 14 games per season not counting playoffs. I have always played at least 14 games per season, all the way back to Madden 2005 on the GC. I've been through probably at least 36 seasons throughout 6 games. GC>PSP>PS3

                    .
Doesn't awareness impact the plays the defenders make on your throws to some degree?

See now when ever I used the all-madden level, Its like inevitable things happen when I just want a fair challenge. I have no problem losing games, i'd sleep better knowing that it was a fair loss LOL. Right now I have the Dolphins, In my earlier seasons my biggest challenge were the Patriots. I think that I lost to them twice but I think my team is just to good and the rest fell off. I've managed to get the Dolphins up to a 90 overall and everyone else is below.

I am a franchise junkie. I always begin by simming the 1st season, and getting to the offseason. I usually fire the coach of whatever team I manage and bring in someone new. This year with most of the real coordinators gone from the game, I usually hire Mike Pettine for my HC, since he is a young and up coming coach.
I don't sign many players in FA, and the ones I do sign are only role players. (leon washington seems to end up in every franchise I start.) I do scout, and and use the system to draft players, although I will admit to cheating myself and sorting on potential from time to time.

Here is my problem though, I can't help myself from cheating with the draft. I want my 1st round pick to be a good player. It is not as much fun for me to play with a C or D potential player. So I end up sorting by potential at the 1st scouting opportunity. From there I look at the positions I need the most help at, and determine if I can find a stud that fits the systems I run. I know this is cheesing, but I don't get the enjoyment out of drafting a crappy player to try and turn around an already crappy team. However, after the initial 15 guys are scouted, I don't sort by POT anymore. I just scout guys that have the size I am looking for, a good name, or "the look." That way, I can have a stud or two in the draft, but not all good players. I don't allow myself to just take the A pot at every postition throughout the draft.

Does anyone else do this, or am I a total cheeser?

P.S. I only cheat the draft on the 1st year. I try to get a cornerstone for the franchise. Subsequent years are a crap shoot.

                              I'd like to think so.

I guess I'm coming from the user standpoint that if you have moderate skill in Madden, you can get by with lesser rated players when you play the game. As an example, in M10 I was doing pretty good on the ground with a 67 rated RB. Certainly his physical skills played a part, but when you combine that with sound user skills, I might be inclined to assume that he was rated at least an 80. But when I sim (although I haven't proved this), I'd like to think that 67 overall will be accounted for, thus not allowing me to inflate his stats...if that makes sense.

In saying that, I have sliders that present a challenge for me in M12 so I'm not concerned about winning every game. But I like adding the sim aspect to the season so I know that my players aren't performing/underperforming simply b/c they're under my control 100% of the time.
