Outcasts, young guys and a few Russians - Phoenix Coyotes Be a GM 12

So here's my new chise guys. Hope you enjoy it - I'll start after the 2011/12 season (I simmed through it) and change the face of the team drastically. I'll give you an overview about who the INs and OUTs, but I won't write a lot of about every trade - did that in the past and it kinda tired me

9 minutes/period, own sliders (based on the one that TNK posted).

    Have fun

COYOTES FIND NEW INVESTORS, STAY IN PHOENIX
Miller new GM, Haviland new head coach

    Mike Haviland

The saga of the nearly bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes and the discussions about a possible relocation are over. The National Hockey League announced today that the Coyotes were purchased by a group of local investors who plan to keep the organization in Glendale. The deal ends on-going speculations that the team might be headed for one of the multiple cities that are currently interested in bringing a franchise to their area. The new investors also announced that while they don't plan on spending to the salary cap, they are definitely prepared to invest money to keep the team competitive and finally bring success to the valley.

That success should come with two new faces in significant positions. Robert Miller will take over as the new general manager of the team, while Mike Haviland will work as the new head coach. Miller has found some success managing well-known teams across Europe, but he has never managed a team in North America and experts and fans alike will watch Miller's moves very closely. The Coyotes gig will be Haviland's first head coach job in the NHL, however, he has won championships as a head coach in the AHL and the ECHL before spending three years as assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks. NHL insiders agree that he is ready for a head coaching job in the NHL now.

        2012 NHL ENTRY DRAFT RESULTS
Devils make Yakupov #1, Coyotes pick Cody Ceci at #10

        Cody Ceci

Emulating the 2004 draft, two Russian born players were taken at number 1 and 2 at this year's NHL Entry draft as Nail Yakupov was chosen by the New Jersey Devils with the first overall pick, followed by Mikhail Grigorenko who was picked by the Chicago Blackhawks. Back in 2004, superstars Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin were taken at number one and two by Washington and Pittsburgh respectively. Defenseman Ryan Murray was then chosen at number 3 by the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Coyotes had seven picks available and chose three forwards, three defensemen and a goaltender. They used their first round pick to select Cody Ceci, a big defenseman of the the Ottawa 67s. Ceci is considered to be among the few players in this draft who are already "NHL-ready". Thanks to deals earlier in the season, the Coyotes had three second-round picks which they used for another defenseman, Derrick Pouliot, and two forwards, Brendan Gaunce and Radek Faksa. Pouliot is an offensive-minded defenseman, and as their playing styles complement each other, he could therefore form an interesting D-line with Ceci in a few years. Gaunce and Faksa have both been very solid in the OHL and it'll be interesting to see how they will develop. With Alessio Bertaggia and Cole Cheveldave, the Coyotes then chose two players who were already eligible last year, but only had their breakout this season. The Coyotes rounded out their draft with defenseman Justin Hamonic in the seventh round.

            2012-13 COYOTES SEASON PREVIEW

Well, it has been a crazy off-season for the team, hasn't it? The Coyotes found new investors to finally ensure their staying in Glendale, they got a new general manager and a new head coach and when you look at the roster, you can't help but say "revolving door". New GM Robert Miller has wasted little time to make a lasting impression and change the face of the team, pulling off several big-name trades and also making difficult free agent- and waiver-choices.

We will now take a close look at the team, compare the key additions to the losses and see how the team has changed over the summer.

            FORWARDS:

            KEY LOSSES:

            - Shane Doan. Shane Doan has been the face of the franchise for the last decade, but age has slowly crept up on him and all parties involved knew that the team's captain couldn't fulfill his dream of winning a cup in Phoenix. As a result, Doan was part of a big trade that saw him leave for St Louis.

            - Lauri Korpikoski. The steady, yet underrated winger was dealt to Montreal on draft day.

            - Mikkel Boedker. The Danish forward never fulfilled the high expectations in Phoenix. His tenure with the Coyotes came to an end on draft day when he was traded to Tampa Bay.

            - Martin Hanzal. The center was traded to Washington.

            - Ray Whitney. The experienced winger opted for retirement at the end of the 2011-12 season.

            - Raffi Torres. The rugged forward found a new home in Denver after being traded to the Avalanche.

            KEY ADDITIONS:

            - Evgeni Kuznetsov. A very skilled and highly-touted forward who was drafted by Washington in the first round in 2010. Acquired via trade.

            - Vladimir Tarasenko. Very similar to Kuznetsov, drafted by St Louis in the first round in 2010. Acquired via trade.

            - Andrei Loktionov. Skilled center, was stuck on the depth chart in Los Angeles. Acquired via trade.

            - Brian Gionta. Small, but skilled and experienced. Struggled a bit in Montreal, quite possibly just needs a change of scenery.

            - Teddy Purcell. Winger with good vision, acquired from Tampa Bay via trade on draft day.

            - David Desharnais. Picked up on waivers.

            - Ty Rattie. 2011 draft pick from St Louis. Acquired via trade.

            - Sven Baertschi. 2011 draft pick from Calgary. Acquired via trade.

            DEFENSEMEN:

            KEY LOSSES:

            - Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Blue chip D-prospect was a key piece in the Kuznetsov-trade to Washington.

            - Rostislav Klesla. Dealt to Calgary.

            - David Schlemko. Traded to Toronto.

            - Derek Morris. Traded to St Louis.

            - Michal Roszival. Dealt to Calgary.

            - David Rundblad. Traded to Anaheim.

            - Adrian Aucoin. Retired at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

            KEY ADDITIONS:

            - Lubomir Visnovsky. Veteran defenseman struggled in Anaheim, seeks change of scenery. Acquired via trade.

            - Eric Brewer. Another veteran, also acquired via trade.

            - Derek Smith. Steady defenseman from Calgary, acquired via trade.

            - T.J. Brodie. Young defenseman from Calgary, acquired via trade.

            - Thomas Hickey. Former 4th overall pick, ran out of chances in Los Angeles. Acquired via trade.

            GOALTENDERS:

            KEY LOSSES:

            - Mike Smith. Dealt to Anaheim.

            - Jason Labarbera. Waived.

            KEY ADDITIONS:

            - Karri Ramo. Very good goaltender in the KHL, now coming back to North America. Acquired via free agency.

            - Ben Bishop. Stuck behind Elliott and Halak in St Louis, just needs a chance. Acquired via trade.

thanks guys!!! Yeah I expect a lot from Kuznetsov and Tarasenko. Had to create them as they were not in the game ... made them both 80 overall. Let's see how it works.
