Crashing to Desktop as game begins
I'm running 2k12 for months on a fairly high-octane, home-built (two years ago) gaming PC. E8400 CPU and ATI HD4850. I recently updated the ATI drivers to version 12.1.
Now, the game boots fine and demo mode works as well as performance benchmarking. However, if I start a game, I get the intro from Damon Bruce and then a crash -- a brief black screen, follow by my desktop. I called 2k support, and they said they would e-mail me a solution, but that was hours ago. I did back off the graphics settings from within the game, turning of AA and turning crowd detail from high to medium, but the game was working fine before. I tried a quick game using Classic teams as well, with the same result. I was really looking forward to T-Wolves-Knicks in NBA today, but no go. Any ideas? Should I downgrade the ATI drivers to 11.8? Thanks in advance. Cobberjoe |
Re: Crashing to Desktop as game begins
have you reinstalled? or better yet - uninstalled, cleaned your folders and then installed? if that doesn't work you may have to try rolling back to a previous ati driver.
yeah, i don't 2k is going to be much help there besides offering you general solutions like i did lol. |
Re: Crashing to Desktop as game begins
Have you installed any mods?
I crashed to desktop a lot until I worked out which mod was causing it...removed it and it's been fine since. |
I had used the black-arm patch, and some roster and slider mods. I created a new profile, using my same 2K account, and it worked. I'll try mods one at a time, and see if I can isolate the issue.
In the meantime, I'm about to drop some knowledge on #Linsanity and close out what the T-Wolves couldn't last night. Thanks for your help. Cobberjoe Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk |
Re: Crashing to Desktop as game begins
when i was having that crash to desktop issue, it was because i accidentally put in 2k11 mods into 2k12, so it would load up and the crash as the game was about to start.... thats probably the same issue your experiencing
