I've never seen a starting caliber undrafted free agent. But if I see one starting for another team, and he is piss poor I usually edit him and his potential up. My rationale is that he made the team for a reason other than being a body

I've had a couple guys I used as starters, but usually that's at positions of thin depth or I'm pissed at the people there (or both).

I think the highest was like 76 or something, which is like elite as far as those players go and definitely worth a roster spot if needed.

Never had one in the 80's though. Some WOULD be in the 80's most likely if they didn't have such funky skill sets. Between that and them almost always being "F" players are two things about the players themselves they could tweak.

Re: Whats your highest UDFA you got?

I got a 72 OVR fullback with B potential, 82 Speed and decent Impact Blocking, I think that's about the best "straight starter" I got as an UDFA.

I also once got an OLB with 85 Speed but sucky coverage ratings, he was only 67 OVR but had B potential as well so I moved him to DE (running a 4-3) and he immediately went up to around 75 and has been pretty great edge rusher on passing downs.

Another starter I got as an UDFA was a kicker, has OVR sucked (62, with only C potential) but he started out with 95 Kick power and 85 accuracy, that really shows how much the OVR calculation in Madden can suck... how is a guy with a monster leg AND decent accuracy only 62 OVR? Sure, he had only 35 Speed and Awareness, but who cares about stuff like that for a kicker?

You gotta have Hope! (My Minnesota Vikings franchise)

After an incredible 2012 season ends with a Super Bowl win, Hope Turner and her Vikings are trying to prove that their performance was more than just a one-shot.

I saw an 89 overall A potential MLB on another team. It was a need of mine, and I had already draftedan A pot one. I tired to trade for him, but the Bengals wouldn't bite. It makes met htink the computer is just stupid with who it cuts, and they actually know the player's overall.

His name is escaping me at this very moment (I will update this when I get home tonight and play a game) but I have a UDFA CB rated 73 overall with a "B" potential and he is currently my nickel CB.

Kid made the team in year 2 and has established himself as a rising talent in year 3.

It was a rookie on the Bengals while I was the Panthers. I looked up my draft class, and there was no MLB at 89 overall. I then went to all players and sorted by potential, believing it must be the game showing me his "?" stat. The kid had 99 potential, and I have never seen the game lie before when it is in all teams. I don't know if they have an incredibly low chance, and no one ever checks the other teams, so there is an even lower possibility of detection, or the game is really screwy and completely showed me the wrong information.

I got a 72 OVR, B potential Offensive Tackle in my Jaguars franchise. He had 57 speed, 95 strength, 94 impact block, and decent run and pass blocking ratings. He looked like he could develop into a decent starter or at least a solid backup. Only problem with him was he had a 22 injury rating (which I didn't notice until after I signed him to a 3 year contract after his first year) and ended up injured after every game he played. While on my team, he ended up on IR in his first, third, and fourth seasons (was starter in third and fourth season, didn't play his 2nd season). I didn't resign him after his fourth year.

go to him in player management, click the left stick, and scroll to awards. it should show where he was drafted.

I got a 73 OVR B pot QB. He had 99 throw power and decent deep accuracy, the only reason he was that low rated was speed in the 40's. It was like playing with Kurt Warner's 38 SPD in Madden 04, he could barely move. However, I kept him as a project and he played a few games when my starter got injured/i was dissatisfied with my starter.

Potential is just random for them, though. someone with 99 throw power has high "potential" in real life.

I am now pretty sure that it was showing me the question mark rating. I was just updating my Ptential guide, and I find that Jaiqwan Jarret rose 16 points in the roster update to 86. I trade for him, and he drops back down to 70, weird.

                            really proud of this one.
undrafted ROLB, 80-something overall w/ A potential (How did he get cut? No idea)
After one season, he was 90 overall
after another, he was 96 overall and the best-rated player on my lowly Rams franchise
MLB: Boston Red Sox, Florida Marlins
                            NBA: Miami Heat, Boston Celtics
                            NHL: Boston Bruins
NFL: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots

In my Packers franchise I got a 5'-11" 205 lb HB who was a 76 OVR with A pot, 97 speed, 96 elusiveness, 82 truck, 90 juke, and 88 spin. He also had 79 catch. His only problem? 65 carry . Needless to say, I'm having some fun with him, Rodgers, Jennings, Finley, Nelson, and Cobb. My offense cannot be stopped.
