From what I remember, MLB 12 will not get it, but who knows if they surprise us maybe...I'd just be afraid of the patching breaking something else.

I think I read somewhere that the 2K12 guys were going to patch it into their game if the rule happened so like I said who knows what the SCEA team will decide. With or without the change its still going to be an awesome game.

Oh no doubt the game will be great. To me, this is a pretty big facet of franchise mode. The whole point of each season is to make the playoffs, it just won't feel right for that format not to match up with MLB's format.

Do we want a delayed game because MLB decided a month from the regular season to changed the playoff format? They already changed the playoff format that was put in place in early December. If they can do it cool and if not so be it....

If this is real...I really hope they can find a way to get it in there this year. Maybe MLB should pay for them to get it in there this year. Haha.

For those saying that it can't be patched, I'm kind of disappointed that the point is being missed.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game, and HATE to criticize anything about it. However, there's been talk of this happening for months and months now. I would have expected for SCEA to have this be an OPTION in the game just in case this exact scenario happened. Kind of surprised and disappointed they didn't to tell you the truth.

I don't think SCEA has officially said they were not doing anything. Everything has been speculation up until this point. I guess until they say NO, there is no reason for everyone to get fired up. At least yet, lol!

Right people are getting a little wound up over this.

No one said they "CAN'T" patch it because honestly, if they wanted to they could patch this game until it was an NBA game if they really wanted.

Also I don't think they said they weren't going to do it at all but that they had no plans to do it at that time. It could happen so we'll just have to wait and see after the game is released because I can bet you we likely won't hear anything on a patch until its been out for at least a week or two.

I thought I remember seeing that 2K will have it in there as an option with the release of the game. So maybe the Show can get it done too. Who knows.

It doesn't matter. They could of been talking about doing this for ten years but until it's official it won't make it in a game. MLB 12 The Show is complete and it's probably, in fact I'll bet that it's not in if this decision was just made. If it can be patched in then great, if not then no biggie.

I doubt it on this short notice and for me I won't mind. I believe this is a bad idea from MLB, seems like a gimmick.

Personally I think if there has ben talk of this for a while then SCEA should have had a plan for if it did happen. Esssentially the game becomes out of date or un-authentic because of this ruling.

I do get there is probably lots of code or whatever to alter- however I think there should of been a plan.

Fingers crossed those clever guys at SCEA have something in place. Seems a bit shortsighted if they havent especially if the other game does.

On the eve of Thursday's soft deadline for finalizing details of the implementation of a 10-team playoff field, MLB and its players association are close to announcing the change that would take effect in October, sources said Wednesday.

Nothing actually confirmed at all yet, but it does look likelier.

Not a fan myself, i like the fact its very hard to get into the postseason in Baseball, far harder than any other North American sport.

That's partly because they only have to win three games to beat the team with the best record instead of four. Longer series benefits the stronger team. The idea being floated is a one game play in for the two wild card teams. That is of marginal benefit, if any, to the division winner.

Actually its a huge benefit to the Divisional winner. That means the WC team comes into the game, having used their #1 start already in that one game playoff, which in its self can be a big advantage seeing as it will be a #2 against a #1 at that point and for some teams is a big enough advantage to assure a game 1 win.
