    Franchise Trade Talk

Like the title says...post your trade thoughts and what trades you're thinking about making.

Personally, I'm looking to send off Rick Porcello. He has pitched like garbage all season long and I have other options that I can't justify using until he's out of town. But I don't know exactly what I should be trying to go get for him. Any realistic deals I could try to make?

    Re: Franchise Trade Talk

Alright, so I've been browsing around and based on how Jhonny Peralta is playing for me this season...he could be on the block too. His bat has been sub-par and so has his defense. I'm looking for a speedy SS who can play some defense and I could get for a decent price. Anybody have any ideas for that?

For the record, Rick Porcello and Peralta are the two guys I'm really willing to part with (if that helps anyone draw up a deal)

I traded away a minor leaguer and scott rolen for Mark Reynolds and Ryan Ludwick and minor leaguer for Andruw Jones. I also traded a couple of prospects for Doug Fister.

Those are sweet trades for you...but they seem a little 1-sided

Fister is an amazing pick-up. Getting him for a couple prospects may have pryed him from Seattle because well...they aren't going anywhere and prospects are gonna help that team, but now that Detroit has him and he's under team control for awhile and for cheap not to mention he's pitching well..he'd be untouchable haha. Jones is doing work in my Chise, the Yanks have him hitting 6th and he's raking with a .300 average and 10 HR balls through 35 games.

Figured I would ask here but how do you resign your own players in franchise mode? Thanks

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think you can't resign during the season. You've gotta wait til the resigning phase. Unless you go in and edit the player's contract under "Edit Player" but I'd tread carefully with that one if your trying to be realistic about it..

When I pick this up on Saturday, a 3rd bagger is top priority. Will trade Rolen, a prospect or two and maybe even Homer Bailey or Bronson Arroyo for a nice 3rd baseman. Platoon Heisey and Ludwick, then go after another young starter the year after, if I trade both Homer and Bronson. With that, the only real positional weakness will be the young catcher position.

That is a big need for Cinci...Rolen is getting up there in age and you could use a guy to man that position for some years to come. Maybe you try to pry Mark Reynolds from Baltimore? He's got a wicked bat but his glove is a little suspect. And I think he could be had for the right deal since Baltimore probably isn't winning anything for the next 3 or 4 years (although in my franchise they are in 1st place lol)

He's also pretty pricey- though dumping Arroyo's salary could help that (like I did.)

I brought in Reynolds in my Mariners franchise last year. He K's too much though (something Cinci does too much). Reds still need a lead off guy, so I may try to find a good lead off, contact 3rd bagger, so I can hit BP in the 2 hole.

Chone Figgins? That's the guy I'd look to for that. The dude can fly and he is a contact guy. He's the only speedy leadoff type 3B I can think of off the top of my head (although I'm sure there's another one somewhere and when reminded I'll feel stupid)

My beef with Chone is that he has been regressing, badly. I may grab a SS (did that last year with Andrus) and hit him lead off, while putting him at third, or I could put Cozart at third and just get a nice SS. Lots of options.

Starting my new Yankees franchise, I made 1 trade before the season started. I traded catcher Austin Romine (23 years old, 70 ovr, 3/4 stars potential to the Rays for short stop Sean Rodriguez (26 years old, 74 overall, 3/4 stars potential).

I moved up Cervelli from AAA to backup martin at the catcher position since it was Romine backing up at the start of the season, and I put Rodriguez as Jeters backup.

I actually simmed a season earlier today before this new franchise to check out stats at the end of the year and was offered this trade during the sim, and I thought wow pretty good deal, especially at the end of the simmed season I saw Rodriquez jump 8 points in overall lol. And jeter has retired in both of my simmed seasons while checking out stats so I think it works out pretty good overall.
