Career statistics...can't see most stats
I have been playing around in franchise and have a quick question. I can find players' career batting average and home runs and such, but I cannot find such stats as career doubles, triples, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and the like. Am I not looking in the right spot (I am looking on the player card) or are career stats like these not kept in franchise mode?Tags: None -
This has been on the wish list for years. Currently it's NOT available on the player card. The only way to see those previous stats is to save a new franchise each season and go back and look at the stats. Hopefully next year they can implement a more thorough player card! -

It's sad that this has still not been improved on. I remember being disappointed with career stats years ago. I guess I've just been spoiled with baseball stats since I started playing OOTP seven years ago.Prototype Supreme

I've gotten spoiled by the way Madden does such a great job of keeping track of career stats.Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Falcons
Auburn Tigers

Unfortunately, you can't see too many traditional statistics. I really couldn't care less about the sabrmetrics they've put in like ISO and all that. The only way to track it is to make spreadsheets and track them yourself. That's an insane amount. I do it for a CAP I put into my franchise (a good player, but not a superstar for the weakest position) and for my draft choices that made it to the Show. I HIGHLY doubt they can patch something like that, but hopefully next year they'll replace sabremetrics with doubles, triples, OBP, slugging and stolen bases. Maybe errors too.Super XV: Crusaders
ITM Cup: Canterbury
MLB: New York Mets
Bundesliga: FC Schalke 04Comment

OOTP will do that to you!! But this topic has been talked to death about... The devs are listening and know the fans want this implemented. Next year is their rumored "rebuilding" year for franchise...so cross your fingers that it makes it in!!Comment

I actually do that. Yeah it might be a bit lame but I like to play 5-10 years down the road and see how my team and certain players have developed.Unfortunately, you can't see too many traditional statistics. Re: Career statistics...can't see most stats
It'd be really, really cool if they created a feature to export stats to the web and there was a website that would then compile all the career stats for you. So you could export stats at the end of each season and have career stats for all the stat categories tracked. Both for teams and players.
In that same vein, I'd really like to see a shift to have franchise data available on the web. I know madden or some other games have done this before but obviously it has never become standard. It'd be nice to be able to view the league leaders, player stats, team stats, standings, etc for my franchise on a nifty little web page while I'm not on my PS3. Seems only natural that if such a tool existed, it could also handle career stat tracking

You would think stats would be much further along than what we have available right now. I do think The Show is progressing, with additional stat overlays, the announcers pointing out player acheivements occasionally.I have been playing around in franchise and have a quick question. Baseball is all about stats. I hope will we see a big jump next year, instead of small increments.Comment

Re: Career statistics...can't see most stats
Well it is only 2012 and holding all the text data must be so difficult.
It's pathetic is what it is. Franchise mode for some odd reason is talked up big time because things like arbitration and the rule 5 draft. Yawn. But I can't look at career statistics?
I, like everyone else, am looking to start franchise/season mode very soon with OSFM, but I seriously doubt the staying power of franchise mode since other than playing games, I can't get lost in it.Comment

that's really all that needs to be said about this. You would think stats would be much further along than what we have available right now. I do think The Show is progressing, with additional stat overlays, the announcers pointing out player acheivements occasionally.

Hopefully in 13, stat tracking will finally get the love it has deserved on this long running franchise.
I too find it upsetting that something so important to the game of baseball, just as much so in video game baseball, has been overlooked so often.
That said, in terms of during the season stats, the Show does have a TON of cool ones:
-sac flies
-sac hits
-gidp
-lot of home/away splits
but career stats is a crime.Comment

Exactly. And with storage limitations apparently being the biggest obstacle to stat tracking, that's all the more reason to utilize the web. The web scales to storage needs. There has to be some way video games can utilize web storage for things like stat tracking and even still make them visible in-game (assuming of course the user has an internet connection).that's really all that needs to be said about this.

Re: Career statistics...can't see most stats
I lent my brother and his friends my ps3 to play the Show. They didn't understand auto-saving, so after every game they would also save a new file of the franchise. I opened the Show to load up and continue the franchise and there were at least 50 copies of the same franchise.
I find it awfully hard to believe they cannot store more statistics.Comment

SCEA knows we want career stats and they will get it in there when they can.
I don't want to sound like its ruining the franchise mode, it doesn't, but It sure puts a damper on it when you get to season two and beyond.
Like I mentioned earlier, there are really cool in season stats that I hav never seen, and I do reference them a LOT.
so thats cool.Comment
