Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
Good god. Claiborne got a 4/50 on the Wonderlic according to the NBC article. How the hell does this guy pass through college for 3 years?

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
And Vince Young scored a 6. The Wonderlic doesn't matter AT ALL. Sure owners have a preferred score (which, BTW, for QBs is around 24 out of 50), but they don't really care. As Young proved, no matter how low the score is, you'll get drafted high if you're good. And Claiborne is the best available.Good god. No doubt he'll be drafted high regardless. I'm still hoping Tampa gets him, but I mean seriously, how do you get through college without knowing basic stuff? And Vince Young scored a 6. Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
First off, the only reason this was leaked was to embarrass him. It won't hurt his draft stock (or shouldn't, you've gotta be one petty gm to skip out on him after the 1st five picks). Maybe if he was a quarterback, this would be a story. But he's not and it's really not.
He was a a General Studies "major" for crying out loud.
Is he smart? No. Again, general studies major.
Can he play football? Yes.Last edited by Watson; 04-03-2012, 09:29 AM.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Lol let's be real here. Do you really think that a starting defensive player for LSU learned anything in the classes that he may or may not have attended? I'm a fan, but I know how that world works.Boston Red Sox

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
It's not about getting drafted high, it's about what happens after you get drafted i.e. being a professional. I don't need a Rhodes Scholar on my team, but I need a guy who takes every part of this process seriously, and a 4 out of 50 means he just completely blew this off. For goodness sake, studying and taking the Wonderlic is part of your draft preparation when you go to places like Athletes Performance to get ready for the combine. I'm not saying I'd take him off my draft board off the strength of this alone, but it would be a definite red flag if that score is true.
And I wouldn't point to Vince Young as someone who rebuts that line of thinking. I remember when Vince got that 6 and everybody scoffed that it didn't mean anything. To me, it hinted at deeper flaws in his character. He should still have his face on the side of the building in Nashville. Instead he's a 28 year old backup looking to find his 3rd team."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment

Not worried about the test scores. I have taken the wonderlic its not hard but it is a thinking test. Has no similarities to football at all especially from a CB perspective.Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dallas Mavericks

So, you're saying CBs don't need to think?Comment

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
If you've watched him play you know he can think on the field, and that's all that matters.
LSU is known for being one of the better SEC schools when it comes to football graduation, etc. But like Watson said he was a general studies major lol/Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
On a kinda related note, how in the hell is Kentucky supposedly #1 in the SEC in APR? There's just so much wrong in college athletics I don't even know where to start lol.
But back on topic, yeah, I would assume that Claiborne just didn't give a **** at all about this test, because if the test is the way it's been made out to be, you basically need a 3rd grade education to get more than 4.NFL: Bills

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
Last year it was Terrell Pryor's score (reported as a 7, claimed later to be a 22) that caused a stir, this year it's Claiborne...
Here's a sample test to compare "your" score to:
It's revised from the one that I posted in the Pryor thread last year, but is very similar...
I was never much of a "test taker", but even I got a 36, while skimming it at work...
I'm not sure what the "math" of the situation really is, but one would think that it's possible to beat a 4 by simply guessing...Comment

Re: Morris Claiborne Wonderlic (do we have a draft thread?)
Mission accomplished, I'd say.
I was big on the Bucs taking Claiborne at 5, but perhaps trading down for Kirkpatrick might be a brighter idea. Unless, of course, Kirkpatrick scored a 3 or less.
