    Advice on defense?

I seem to always have a problem with defense in this game and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on valuable information that will help my defense improve. In the last season of my legacy with a power conference school, I had the #1 offense in the country. Contrarily, I was ranked somewere in the 300s in defense. Sad thing is my defense rating for the team that year was 92. I don't know if it's the playbook I'm using or what, but all I know is we get abused by 3 pointers no matter what defense I play. The opposing team always passes the ball around until one of the CPU players on my team loses track of their man, and they exploit the opportunity seamlessly every instance. I also have a problem with my bigs not boxing out or defending the paint. Too often have I seen my big guys allowing the CPU to get right in front of the hoop. Another thing is when there's a fast break and the PG gets back before everyone else. The CPU does that unblockable pivot layup while the PG just stands there and lets him score. Up till now, I haven't found any way to prevent it from happening unless I take control of the PG, which I'm able to make some stops here and there by doing so. If anyone can offer some advice, I'd deeply appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

try to block it every time, even if you aren't anywhere near the shooter. if the game knows you didn't try to block it, the game knows you aren't hustling and is going to punish you

yeah I need help too, #1 in offense, in the 300's in defense. I try to contest every shot, and usually play man to man, with some zone here and there.

This. I've messed with help defense sliders and everything to try and fix this and nothing is working.

Ignore the national statistics. It is based solely on field goal percentage, and although this is the most realistic sports video game ever created, it can't be absolutely flawless. It's a video game, after all, so obviously FG percentages are a bit inflated. That's why your offense has the highest and your defense has the lowest. You and your opponent make more shots on average than in real life.

teams tend to shoot so well against me.. and me against them... but in the end the better team usually wins so it doesn't make me to upset ha

If you're playing 20 minute games, none. If you're playing 15 or less, then those are some real low scoring games.

So i guess no one ever figured out how to combat this? Haven't played in awhile and just played a game in which this was basically how the CPU scored all of their baskets. I had every player on the team set to TIGHT yet guys would sag way off their man for no reason. Drove me nuts.

The only other option is to go to coach settings and change tendency to 100 on defense and then change players to tight in the game settings. Play man to man. The 2-3 zone gets exploited too much by the cpu.

just learn how to switch players very quickly. if you notice one of your players is getting beat more than the others, control him manually more often, or put a better defender on that player...

I agree with this, see which player is getting beat the most and take that position over so the same CPU mistakes don't keep happening

I have found a lot of success running the 1-3-1 and controlling the wing player on whichever side i feel is more likely to get the ball. If you have a good C most teams can't abuse the fact there is only 1 man under the hoop and the 3 across the middle wreck havoc in the passing lanes

Also may just be your players having low defensive awareness ratings. Especially if you're in career legacy at a smaller school.
