Question for Franchise Mode people
I have seen posts on these forums about how most people do not complete a 162 game season. That is the case with me. I was thinking about trying something different this year, starting a franchise (after the opening day OSFM rosters come out of course) and simming maybe half the games. I do not like the idea of a shortened season, I want the stats to match what you would see from a 162 game season.
My question is, has anyone tried this? And how did you like it?Tags: None -
Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
I really like the GM side of things so I enjoy putting together a team, finding the holes and filling them with FAs, trades and minor leaguers. But that would get old if I weren't playing some so I try to play one game of every series and sim the rest. You end up playing about a third of the games this way and it gives you a good feel for what your team is missing as the GM. Of course, if I get my team to the playoffs, I play all of that out. -
I play all mine personally but just being a GM doesn't sound bad to each their own

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
Previously I have been playing MLB 08 the Show on my son's psp. I have literally been playing that game since 2008. I'm a baseball junkie and that was the best baseball game I played to date. I played every single game through 2 seasons and then I started to change up. I played every series against my AL east opponents and 1 game of each series versus non division opponents. This is now what I am doing in MLB 12. Plus I can get into all the financial stuff and scouting and feel like I'm progressing. I've been running with the yankees as they have been my favorite sports team since I was a child. But honestly I want a challenge this year so I am undecided on whether I want to take the Royals, Mariners or Astros. I've got my Yankees franchise going but the satisfaction of taking say the Astros out of the dumps to the WS is appealing.PS3 gamer Tag: Jeff82775Comment

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
agreed....if u want a legitimate challenge with a team that doesn't have much, it gotta be the Astros....Royals and Mariners are loaded with young talent and could easily contend in a year or two.....same cant be said for the Astros....always room for another Astros franchise user hahaPreviously I have been playing MLB 08 the Show on my son's psp. Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
Yeah I'm looking forward to tomorrow after Easter dinner when everyone leaves and I can just sit down play for a couple hours with no interuptions. I was thinking of giving myself a few rules when building the Astros like not buying any top tier FAs and only building through the draft. Adding depth from FAs is fine so long as I'm not overpaying. I may also just sim the 1st year doing only Scouting, drafting and the Financial stuff and then picking up in my 2nd year playing all division games and 1 game of each non division. Should make for an interesting Franchise. Also, no trades either unless I'm offered by the CPU.PS3 gamer Tag: Jeff82775Comment

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
Thanks for the responses. I think I might try playing one game per series. I will probably have to play every game against the Cardinals though. Since I will be playing as the Reds, I have to throw at Molina a few times a year lol.
I definitely will not try playing a different team though, it is most fun for me to play Cincinnati.Comment

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
I did this last year, go to the TV contract screen and see how many games are "shown on TV" and just play the amount they say. I know from fartin around this year with the Astros they have an 81 game contract so just play 81 games and sim the rest. I know 81 games sound like alot but this is coming from a guy who grinds out 162 games.

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
if ur gunna use this current OSFM roster set, u'll have about 23M of payroll flexibility starting out so no it wouldn't be wise to buy any pricey FA's....not tellin u what to do but it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world to play opening day with the Astros ace, sim 6 days to play with ur #2 pitcher and so on so forth so u can at least get a different pitcher and grasp a feel of who u wanna keep/let go in the offseasonYeah I'm looking forward to tomorrow after Easter dinner when everyone leaves and I can just sit down play for a couple hours with no interuptions. Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
what i do is, pick 1 game per week (the most important/ best matchup) the top row of games on the calendar which is usually only bout 2 to 4 games and the bottom row of games bout 3 to 6 equals 1 week, so basically pick 4 a month, i think its bout 20 games until the last month, then play every game until your out of the playoffs then simComment

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
For me personally, i'm always racing against time.
What I do is I play EVERY divisional game. I keep up throughout the season who is in first or in the wild card race especially if im in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs and play against those teams.
If any series is against a team that is in last place then i play 1 inning and sim 2. Either that or I do Gamecast. I like Gamecast b/c it allows you to still make moves and steal and hit and runs etc.
Hopefully this can help anyone out. It works for me, makes the season go by a little quicker. The Positive Sports Podcast~~~Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do~~~Ignore The Negativity, Be The PositivityComment

Re: Question for Franchise Mode people
I play 1 series a day. If I don't get them in, I sim or play portions of the game. I'm already over 1/2 way done with my first season. (42-56) I'm scheduled to finish 4 seasons by oct.Comment
