Ridiculously hard to make diving stops at the corners

Is it just me or is it a lot harder in 12 to make a diving stop at 1st or 3rd? I've been playing for weeks now, and I seriously don't think I've had a diving play yet. And when I say diving play, I don't mean a highlight reel play MADE, I mean I don't think they have dived for a ball AT ALL in fair terretory going towards line line.

By the time the camera switches to the fielders, Wright or Ike are already in that horribly frustrating "oh darn the ball got past me animation" and the game won't even let me ATTEMPT a dive.

Is it just me? Is there a settings fix I'm overlooking? Please help or share your frustrations - I know I can't be the only one who hates it when they go in that animation after every ball gets hit down the line.

Same here also. They don't even attempt to dive just that dumb animation like you said. The computer makes plenty of diving attempts though. Oh well. annoying but not too bad I guess. Not just you because I get it a lot also.

I mean honestly.. The animation was there in all the previous games.. And that's fine you can't get them all.. But I don't get what the problem is this year, it happens every time!

Agree. Played couple more games today and I swear I get that animation every single time. I don't know what the deal is this year either smh.

I'm not made a diving stop at any position yet this year. I don't know if my reacts to liners are that bad this year or if the liners seem much faster. I've attempted dives but just not quick enough.

I don't think I've ever successfully made a dive for any ball in play. I guess I'm just too used to MVP Baseball 2005, you could stop anything, haha

I player around 30 games so far and have made 2 diving catch. One second baseman and one by third. I do feel it is harder to do a diving catch compare to the show 11. But then again.... I remembered I had to give it a few trys before become somewhat profession at it in the show 11 as well...

I wish there was a shorter dive option. I often get a ball hit right between the diving distance and making the play on the run distance, and the fielder goes into that "reach but can't quite make the play" animation. If I had hit the dive button, he would have sailed over the top of the ball.

Don't you think they could be recreating the difficulty of the play, on account of that it is one of the hardest things to do in baseball?

Ah MVP 2005 - I'm practically dripping with nostalgia right now.

Hard sure, but it's damn near impossible this year - and it's hardly an IMPOSSIBLE play to make. The fact that I've had a few replies and they have all said something like "yeah wtf is going on here" - and nobody has given me a solution tells me it's probably something that should be addressed in a patch.

Having played the hot corner throughout high school I must say it seems like we get "forced" into that same oh drats i can't get this one animation an awful lot.

I do, however, think that I'd rather have too few than too many diving stops. Hell, in my last series vs the Diamondbacks I had their outfielders make 7 diving catches in the 3 game series.

I also have been thinking whether it has to do anything with a players fielding / reaction rating. That would account to why some of us see it as an issue and some don't. Granted I've been thinking of bumping up fielding ratings for some of the Braves players anyway. This would only give me another reason to do so.

To the person talking about a "short dive":

There were many situations where I got stuck in that in-between area while playing baseball and I'm sure it happens just as much in the pros. Can't be a perfect situation all the time when it comes to fielding a ball.

Outfielders are a different story. It does seem like they make a lot of diving catches out there, but for every diving catch, there is a foolish dive attempt that results in an easy triple.. So I guess it evens out? Kinda.

But yeah I'm speaking specifically to the infielders, and particularly the corners. I can at least attempt a dive with the middle infielders, since there is time to react once the camera switches unless it's a 110 mph rope that doesn't deserve to be stopped anyway.

I don't think fielding/reaction ratings are the reason.. But if they are it's flawed, because David Wrights ratings in those categories are pretty high, and if he can't make those plays in the game, there are probably only 5 who have better ratings than he does.

I didn't play 11 that much. I played a full 162 game/ plus 30 spring games with the 2010 game and this year it is much harder to make a diving play with your 3B. I am 32 games in my season with this years game and I am not sure I have made one diving stop with my 3B. As mentioned before it seems to go into the animation too soon. It is not a game breaker for me by any means but it does get a little frustrating. I would at least like the player to dive even if it gets by him. lol
