Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I was going to ask if doing a fantasy draft and playing through the season would be more fun than going through with a team.
Also is it better to have the draft fixed or serpentine for a more fun experience?Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians
NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Cleveland BrownsTags: None -
Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I don't like it. Too easy to get a stacked team. Computer will get low rated players with high potential over young stars.
But if u do go serpentine otherwise you'll have a few stacked teams and a few terrible ones*AKA NFC3PO on the Madden Modding Discord*Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
Extremely fun. You build a team around your play style. You can try different types of teams as well, like a shooting team, slashing team, dunking team etc. and challenge yourself. All I do these days are fantasy drafts to mix it up and keep the games fresh.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I love it. Lately, that's all I've done. Played thru a whole season. The first weeks you might suck, but once you get the hang of your team, you'll be good. What I like about the fantasy draft is that you can build your team the way YOU like it. One season you can build around a big man, and the next maybe build around a PG. Play around with it! I'm not used to playing normal rosters as much anymore tho haha.
EDIT: do SERPENTINE. it's only fair lolMy NBA 2k Blog and VideosComment

I've wanted to do one for a while because there is a select few of players that I love to have on my team.I love it. Lately, that's all I've done. Played thru a whole season. I'm guessing it would be fun because every team has a shot at the title due to how fair the serpentine draft is.Football: Manchester United

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
That's how I feel too, lol. There is no bad spot in the draft with serpentine on. You can be the last pick and still be a good team, cuz you get two picks close to each other. Have like a star you want to build around planned when u are in the top 10, mid 10 and last 10 spots so you don't worry too much. I hate the middle spot, u wait longer to get ur next pick lmao.My NBA 2k Blog and VideosComment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I usually find the actual drafting of the team more fun than actually playing through a season with a fantasy team. I do like playing with a team of guys that I've selected myself, but what I miss is knowing who I'm coming up against. I like looking at the schedule and seeing Miami and thinking damn that's going to be a tough one, or seeing Charlotte and thinking hmm going to get to have a bit of fun this game. When you do fantasy drafts, you got no idea what's going to get thrown at you lol.
This is really a personal thing though, some won't care about that.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I think this is a case where the less die hard a fan you are of the NBA the more fun a fantasy draft is. For me I don't have a favorite team and am more a college fan than I am an NBA fan so I love doing fantasy drafts. I can see a die hard NBA fan not like seeing stars on different teams though. I mean it might bother you seeing Kobe on anybody but the Lakers.
I did a serpentine fantasy draft with the Knicks and I'm 11-4 to start the year. I picked 12th and ended up taking Rudy Gay with my 1st pick. My team looks like this.
Parker, Allen, Gay, Scola, Milicic
Matthews, Foye, Hansbrough, Diaw, I. Smith, Delfino, and Curry
Team rating of 79. So not a great team on paper really but they are playing well and I have a couple of young studs to build around.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
This is my approach as well. The science of building a team and learning what's successful is more exciting. I've played through the seasons as well, but the draft is the highlight.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
This might sound weird, but I need a storyline for me to do a fantasy draft.
When I play Association, I always have my imaginary storylines going. It's easy when I'm using real rosters. But with a fantasy league?
I can't help but manufacture a reason for the fantasy draft to happen. Problem is, I've never been able to think up a good reason that seems logical. That is prolly the reason I've never finished a season with a fantasy league, even though I found the actual draft fun.
Anyone else run into this issue?
If so, what imaginary reasoning did you use that explained why the fantasy draft happened?
I was going to do a fantasy draft with legends a few weeks ago, but I ended up just starting a new association. I think too much, seeing Dwight Howard guarding Patrick Ewing just takes me out of the 'im pretending this is real' moment. I need a good reason for it to happen. I can't play sports games unless i'm pretending the action on the field/court is really happening. At least not an association mode. I make up storylines when I play those modes.
I might be alone with this lolLast edited by DorianDonP; 05-19-2012, 04:49 AM.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I do the same thing with most of my games. I have to make up imaginary story lines to kind of keep things interesting, to make it feel like more than a video game. Adds to the experience. It'd be nice if the game did that sort of thing for us;create story lines that is. But it doesn't.This might sound weird, but I need a storyline for me to do a fantasy draft.

Only realistic story line I could think of for doing a fantasy draft association and rolling with it had something to do with the CBA and lockout. Like, the league found an unbalance of teams and decided to do a complete redrafting of players. Something like that.Comment

Re: Is Doing a Fantasy Draft Fun?
I just finished my draft. When I do a fantasy draft I try not to stack my team so I can be challenged. Here is my team:
Rondo
Nick Young
Parsons
T. Gibson
Hibbert
Barnes
Redick
Milicic
"Boobie" Gibson
Jajuan Johnson
Daye
Jeffries.
I think I might try to trade for a scoring superstar.Comment
