Superstar is a horrible mode.
I desided to take a small break from my cheifs franchise at the end of my first season and do a superstar mode since I had not even attempted to do it at all. I chose to just use a rookie and chose ingram. I thought at least it might be kinda fun. I was completly wrong. I have only rushed the ball 24 times in 11 total games and about 150 yards and 2 tds. I so far have only had two carries a game thats it and thomas my back up has had only 1 carrie. If I haden;t broken a few takles I would hardly have any rushing yards at all. I am usualy either staying back to block or swinging out for a pass which I have 300 reciving yards and 4 tds. This is just stupid If they are going to make a mode like superstar they could at least give who ever wants to play running back a few more carries a game. Its almost as bad as playing a Db where they almost always throw the ball to the side your player is not at. Even in the redzone where they should be running the ball from like the 5 yard line they usualy go for a pa pass.Tags: None -
Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
I can think of a lot more reasons to dislike superstar than the play calling...
But now that you reminded me of it, I might try an Aldon Smith Superstar mode. -
Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
Well it depends on what team you pick. Some teams run the ball more than others. The saints do use their backs much like you say they are making you play. If you increase the time of the games (I play on ten minutes), you will likely get more touches.
I have played a TON of superstar and I'm in year 12 with a created FS, I also have a CB that I played 5 years with. From my experience, the QB won't throw to you if you are covering well. This is not a problem, it's actually how it's done in the real NFL. A trick I found with playing corner is that you can play off coverage, making the QB think the WR is open and then you can jump the route. It's high risk, high reward. Simply put, if you play enough you will get your opportunities.
The play calling in Superstar mode isn't perfect but it's far from broken. It sounds like you want a more arcade style superstar where they give 90% of the opportunities to your player. I would ok with that as an added option for people, but I prefer the more realistic* style that it is now.
*I know it's still far from being truly realistic, just comparing it to the mentioned arcade style.Philly born and raised

Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
the progression is toilet tho. ive made 2 mlb, both hit 99 by week 12 iirc and both have all 99 except carry preseason year 2. this is is on custom all madden sliders. his skins went 6-10. can make 400-500 without too much difficulty. he had 65 solo, 60 assist, 8.5 sacks, 23 tfl, 1 int 4 def, 1 ff. not a bad rookie year imo
hb lucky to make a 100, you start sub 70 and it shows. te maybe 200 a game if lucky.Comment

Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
Don;t get me started on Ncaa 12 its ten times worse all around game not just road to glory although I did have a de that crushed Qb's but we still lost games becasue either the cpu cheats or the simmed offence dose something very stupid like punting in the red zone down by 3 instide of trying to get the points to push it to over time or we go into over time and it cheats sometimes giving the cpu the ball twice in a row after they score. Not to mention it has its fair share of play calling crap although not as bad as madden 12. Ncaa 12 this year had so much problems it was unplayable for the most part altleast for me anyway.Comment

Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
did I state I wanted 90% of the opurtunitys for my player? Right now my player dosen;t even get 2 % rushing the ball and only gets maype 3 catching attempts. I just want it evened out 2 rushing attempts per game is down right bs and before I even started the season I had my guy built up to almost 90 over all. I never said I wanted acrade style I just want something I can play there is no relizm when you get two carries per game and advrage if you lucky maybe 10 yards a game. Where is it trying to be even near realistic when it dose someting like that.Well it depends on what team you pick. Some teams run the ball more than others. The saints do use their backs much like you say they are making you play. If you increase the time of the games (I play on ten minutes), you will likely get more touches.

Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
I played SuperStar Mode all the time back on the PS2 and since the Next Gen consoles have been out I never really use it.
We have seen games like NBA 2k, MLB: The Show and even NHL's EASHL continue to add to their single player mode and im a little disappointed that Superstar has come this far into the next gen without getting the necessary upgrades it needs to keep it fresh and have high replay value.
Simple things like post game press conferences, more training options, even the parents DNA feature made it more interesting.
There's tons of things SuperStar could have in order to make the feature go back to where it used to be and if that were to happen I would be 100% pleased. I just want it to get true attention and have solid additions.Follow me on Twitter: @Official_Mole

Re: Superstar is a horrible mode.
I enjoyed Superstar mode when I played as a MLB - but never for more than a season. Nice for a change of pace, but not what gets me to the game store at midnight on release. Certainly not the draw that online ranked games are.
That said, I wouldn't call it horrible.
