umpires clapping

Pet peeve of mine, but does it bother anyone else how the umps clap all the time. Getting called out on strikes and then the ump claps, hah! Or when I get caught stealing, just a small pet peeve, does this bother anyone else?

Are you seeing this in night games? They might be trying to turn the lights on. It IS 2012...

The one thing that bugs me about the umpire is the needless rearranging of his face mask before every......single......pitch.

I play this game almost every day since it came out and not once have I noticed this. I'll look for it when I play again

And, not only that it's a SUPER FAST rearranging of the mask, as if he's trying to get it done before the pitch is released or that he's trying to speed up the game because he has to go to the bathroom.

The clapping is a gesture many umpires use to keep the players moving along and hurry up. No need for the lollygagging the players do..its why umpires chase after catchers and managers that visit the mound..lol

There's another thread about this. I had never noticed before that thread tho, lol. Funny thing is, watching the Pirates game last week on MLB.tv, I noticed the umpire doing it constantly too (since that thread caused me to look, even when watching a real game). I'll have to go to the archive to see who the ump was.

What's really funny, is when you hit the batter in the head with a fastball...and the umpire claps...It's like he's saying, "Good job! I hated that guy anyway!" I'm pretty sure he does it every time, too.

I did too, but didn't notice it either. I looked up videos of The Show 11 and the ump only moved his mask maybe once or twice an inning, not every pitch like 12.
