The Yankees saw their season end in game five of the ALDS against the Tigers, on that note Cashman made a few moves acquiring Michael Pineda, Hiroki Kuroda, Raul Ibanez, as spring training approached Cashman wanting to be involved with other areas of the organization found a new young GM to take his place as spring training approached. The new Gm signed Tony Pena to a one year for 740k to give him a chance in spring training of making the bullpen, he also signed LF Jay Gibbons to a 1 year/70 and C Eric Fryer to a two year/400k with the second year being a team option. Late in Spring training he signed C Ivan Rodriguez to a 1 year 600K contract to start the season in the minor leagues to get back into shape, promised he would release him if he was not called up to the majors by June 1st.
