The Stiff Arm
I think the stiff arm needs to be improved in Madden as it's not as effective as it should be.

Re: The Stiff Arm
Frank Gore has been called on a number of illegal hands to the face on stiff arms before... and yet in the AFC Championship game a Ravens player not only put hi hands in the face of a Patriots defender, he grabbed the mask and drug him in for the score with no flag in a BS non-call.
I just don't understand officiating in the NFL. It's one thing to miss a call, but when they review scoring plays, how do they not see that?
How powerful the stiff arm is in Madden has a lot to do with sliders. I play with sliders that allow more broken tackles by the user and the AI and the stiff arm is brutal for me and against me when the AI uses it. On default All-Pro or All-Madden not so much.
I think there are number of animations that don't play out in Madden unless you have sliders set up a certain way so that those moves are more or less successful. For example, I the tackling is pretty bad on default, but with 100 AI tackling, they get some good clean hits on you. I know in Madden 11 once I started using Jarodd's Sliders I saw a ton of spectacular catches, sideline catches and back of the end zone catches I never saw in that game.Last edited by PGaither84; 05-18-2012, 02:15 PM. -

Re: The Stiff Arm
I thought they could and did.
Wasn't there a Jets Pats game last year where a flag was thrown as a penalty against the Jets, NE declined because they thought it was a TD, then there was a booth review because it was a scoring play, then the overturned the play on the field and threw a flag because the receiver had stepped out of bounds before coming back in and making the catch... so NE ended up not only NOT getting the penalty because they declined, but they didn't get the score and were handed a 10 yard penalty? I remember it was super crazy and somewhat confusing.Comment

Re: The Stiff Arm
Yea, I'm pretty sure illegal touching is the only penalty that can be reviewed. It's really the only penalty that is completely black and white...the guy either stepped out of bounds or he didn't.I thought they could and did.

Re: The Stiff Arm
I think there's a few others. Too many men on the field and the QB crossing the line of scrimmage are a couple that come to mind.Comment

Re: The Stiff Arm
Yea you're right...weird how they determine which penalties can and can't be reviewed. Those ones are pretty black and white too, but something like Offsides on a kickoff, which is also black and white can't be reviewed (I don't think anyways). I understand judgement calls like holding, illegal contact and such...but you would think something like Offsides would be reviewable.Comment

Re: The Stiff Arm
So dragging a guy by his face mask for like 8 yards can't be reviewed? Interesting...
At some point that defender isn't trying to tackle him, and he looks more like "OMG I'm getting drug by my face mask, somebody help me!"
Comical, but I'm pretty sure illegal.Comment

Re: The Stiff Arm
Yeah, I saw that play and I was like "how did he get away with that..."
Looks like Torrey Smith - kid has skills, but he's just got to learn.
As far as the stiff arm in Madden, I wish it looked more like those videos and less of the "okay, he's on me, let me peel him off." animations. I want to see that outstretched arm contacting the defender like an offensive move and preventing contact completely like some of those in that video.Last edited by KBLover; 05-18-2012, 07:11 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
