madden is a good game it will make u understand some stuff u might not know
but like rules madden not good with since so many rules are missing
but basic stuff u can learn andd understand like man or zone blitz what a gap even not everyone master all this stuff even if u dont its still a fun game
i use by all football games and i miss that one back on ps1 i think or was ps2? anyways when it rain it would lighting and sometime hit ur palyer and he fumble first time that happen i was shock and laughing
still bought madden espn nfl gameday qb club nfl fever etc im sure im miss a lot games if u really want learn football this could be this way but if u not 100% sure u would enjoy the game i either say rent it or just take a chance and buy it and this year is the perfect time to buy it since they adding so many features for online franchise if u play online if not u can still play offline and enjoy the real physics engine im hoping its going be goodComment

Re: Is Madden NFL something for a Football-Noob
so im still not sure if i shall purchase madden 13 or not. i played the demo and got more familiar with the gameplay.
for me playing defense wasnt as much fun as playing offense. my football knowledge is too limited to know what plays to run in which situations and especially when i play DEFENSE there isnt too much to do in that case IMO as i dont contribute much to my teams success if i just control one player (let it be LB, FS or SS as those positions seem to be the ones most players control) and let the computer decide over the strategy. or did i miss smth there?
i mean on offense eventho i dont call the plays myself i contribute in a major way to my teams success when controlling my teams QB, RB, WR. while its a different story on defense. the thing is that for me calling the right plays is by far the most difficult part of the game which requires a lot of knowledge concerning football.Spending time with Jesus!

It's not as easy a pick-up-and-play game as Fifa and NHL, but it doesnt take long to get the hang of it.Comment

Re: Is Madden NFL something for a Football-Noob
im mostly concerned abt the play calling, i think you need a deep understanding of the sport in order to do it efficiently. throwing passes and running the ball on the pitch isnt too difficult to pick up, while the strategy part of the game seems to be. that is still preventing me from purchasing the gameSpending time with Jesus!

Re: Is Madden NFL something for a Football-Noob
I play the game consistently on All-Pro, and I usually just let the computer call defensive plays for me. As long as you understand Offensive Playcalling (run on early downs, short yardage situations, when running out the clock/pass on 3rd down, long yardage situations, when you're down late in the game) and can physically play the game, you'll be fine.
For defense, I'd just play as a Defensive End or a blitzer for now--that's what I generally do. Press RT (or R1 for PS3 I think) and pick a player who has a red arrow pointing toward the offense-pretty much the only goal of that player on that play is to run and tackle whoever has the ball, and you'll always have at least one player rushing.
I would definitely get the game. It's a ton of fun and your lack of playcalling skills won't hurt you in any way--the game has measures in place to help you if you dont know what play to call.Comment

Re: Is Madden NFL something for a Football-Noob
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this year its a little more difficult. They have formations like Nascar and other schemes that most dnt understand. With that said its still fun but if you play online you will get destroyed if you dnt know plays and when to use them and basic strategy.Comment
