2011-2012 Season Recap
Last season was a struggle for the Sacramento Kings as they finished with a 32-50 record which was good for last place in the Pacific Division. Although there were some bright spots in the less than stellar season as Demarcus Cousins averaged 15.6 points and 9.3 rebounds as the team countinued to go as far as he carried them. Terrence Williams also was the winner of the Sixth Man of the Year award as he averaged 11.3 points and 4.2 rebounds coming off the bench.
NBA PlayoffsLast year's NBA Playoffs were as thrilling as ever as the Miami Heat won their franchise's second championship defeating Kobe Bryant and his Lakers 4-2. Lebron James was named NBA Finals MVP.
Off-SeasonThe Sacramento Kings went into the off-season looking to make major changes. They started off by firing their head coach Keith Smart and hiring Brook Henderson who is a young coach with a passion for defense, which is just what the Kings need. The next step was the draft. The Kings ping pong balls were all in alignment as they lucked out and got the #1 pick in the draft. They also traded Jimmer Fredette to the Toronto Raptors for the #5 pick in the draft. The Kings surprised a lot of people by by taking big man Andre Drummond #1 overall instead of Anthony Davis. They also selected point guard Damian Lillard out of Weber State with the #5 pick.
The Kings did not make a big splash in free agency. They re-signed reigning Sixth Man of the Year Terrence Williams to a 4 year deal. They also re-signed swing man Donte Green. The chose not to re-sign forward Jason Thompson with the drafting of Drummond he was expected to fill that void.Comment

Kings Win In Team Effort
The Kings came out tonight looking to get the season off on a good start and they did just that. The Kings came out firing taking a 4 point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. It was a wire to wire win for the Kings. Their leading scorer was Terrence Williams with 16 points off the bench. He made a case why he should be named Sixth Man of the Year again tonight. Andre Drummond had a fantastic debut tonight finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. "I just go out there and do what I do best, which is rebound and score inside," said Drummond after the game. The kings look to carry this momentum into the next game against the Lakers.

Kings Make Statement With Win
Coming off an opening night win against the Hornets the looked to keep the momentum going into Los Angeles. Although the Kings jumped out to a 26-18 first quarter lead, they lost Isaiah Thomas who was later diagnosed with a severely sprained ankle and will miss the next 4-6 weeks. Damian Lillard handled the point position well in his first heavy dosage at the NBA level. He ran the show well and did not have any turnovers. The Kings went into halftime with an 8 point lead. Kobe Bryant struggled in the first half, but came out in the third quarter showing why he is a 5 time NBA champion as he cut the deficit to 6 points going into the fourth quarter. His hot streak continued early into the fourth quarter as he gave Los Angeles a 6 point lead with 5:00 minutes left in the quarter. Brook Henderson called a timeout for the Kings and told them "The only way we are going to win this game is if we play defense and come together as a team!" Andre Drummond took that to heart and came out and blocked 3 shots in 5 minutes. The Kings took a 3 point lead with 30.0 seconds left. Kobe Bryant dribbled up court and ran she shot clock down to 5 seconds. Damian Lillard snuck up behind him and double teamed him along with Tyreke Evans, and with such little time left Kobe had to hoist up a desperation 3 that canked off the side of the rim and the Kings walked off victorious.
"The doctor says I will be out 4-6 weeks, but I'll be back in a couple of games. I guaruntee you that," said Isaiah Thomas after the game.

Kings Making Moves
Sources are reporting that the Kings have traded Chuck Hayes and a 1st round pick to the Bucks for Ekpe Udoh. When reporters asked Coach Henderson about the move he said, "Chuck Hayes is a terrific player, but he was undersized and although he was a great rebounder he didn't provide the shot blocking that we needed off the bench. We also made this move to give us a little more flexibility money-wise, since we need to re-sign Tyreke and Demarcus in these next two coming years." When reporters asked Ekpe Udoh about the move he said, "I'm excited to join this team. They're young, athletic, and are eager to win. It definitely is an upgrade from my fromer situation." The Bucks are currently 1-7 and are ranked 30th in the lastest power rankings.

Evans, Bench Carry Kings to Win
Resilience. That is what Tyreke Evans said when he stepped up to the podium for post game interviews Sunday night. The Kings had been knocked down all game, but when the 4th quarter rolled around they were ready to go. The first 3 quarters were domniated by Patrick Patterson and the Houston Rockets. After the 3rd quarter the Kings were lucky to only be down 2 considering the way they had played. At the begining of the 4th quarter Terrence Williams and Marcus Thornton decided to take over and psuhed the Kings out on a 16-4 run to start the quarter. After that they never looked back. Tyreke Evans kept the Kings close all game and made sure the Rockets gained no momentum in the 4th quarter, finishing with a game-high 36 points. "This is exactly what Sacramento King basketball is all about, sticking together through adversity and winning at all costs," said coach Henderson after the game. A topic that continues to come is the struggles of John Salmons. He has been dealing with back spasms lately, but he said while he isn't the one to make exscuses, he does have to admit that his back is giving him some problems out on the court.
