    Power Hitters of the Bench

Who are some good power hitters off the bench? Players who aren't necessarily great sluggers like Pujols or Bautista or Dunn, players who may not even be ideal starters, but still have enough pop for that specialized role. If you want an example, I mean a guy like Brad Eldred of the Tigers: someone cheap, pretty much unknown, and in his case, a career minor leaguer. Who are some good guys for this?

i think Jonny Gomes would fit the criteria...along with Scott Hairston, Andruw Jones, etc.

I was going to recommend Scott Hairston, as well. He's a nightmare for lefty pitchers.

Your best bet is to find (utility) players with very uneven lefty/right split, such as Scott Hairston who has been mentioned already. There are quite a few in positions like 1B, C, etc.

I'd say Wily Mo Pena but iirc his power stats are underrated.

Eric Hinske has six home runs off the bench for me.

Matt Diaz has some pop against lefties.

Scott Hairston (even though he's in a major slump for me at the moment) is a guy I like to use, especially against lefties.

Jason Giambi is deadly against right-handed pitching, and also does decent against lefties. He'd be a good pickup for a team in the AL as you could slide him into a DH role to get him more AB's. He's very limited in the field.

My bench has almost no power, Lyle Overbay is sort of my guy but he has never been a homer threat. I might pick someone up during the trade deadline to find someone with more of a power bat off of the bench.

I think one of my old favorites Russell Branyan crushes righty pitching.
